Dora and Friends Party

All new Dora and Friends Into the City premiered on Monday and I was one of the Twitter Hosts. You can catch it every weekday at 5pm on Nick Junior (Sky 615, Virgin 715, TalkTalk 318). What happened was I invited some exclusive guests to a VIP Party. I have shared the details with you here so that you too can hold your own Dora and Friends party.

After I had sent out the special invitations and got everything ready, including putting up the palm tree, I rolled out the red carpet. The guests looked very glamorous and made a special effort for such a special occasion.

First the children became familiar with Dora and her new friends: Pablo, Naiya, Kate, Emma and Alana. The children had picture cards with information about each character’s personality, skills and likes. At the same time @UKMumsTv also ran on the spot prizes and competitions.

The children were then asked questions to see how much they remembered. This was a little tricky as I had a variety of ages. I ended up doing it by placing the character cards on the floor and the younger ones were able to just select one. The winner was super excited to win a Dora and Friends bracelet with USB stick.

Next the children picked a Dora and Friends colouring in sheet, but some also want to use the colouring books they had to take home.

Whilst they were settled the adults helped bring in the food – Star sandwiches, The Map Cheese strings, Jelly, and Popcorn.

Before eating their food the children decorated cake and biscuits. Before settling down for the premier episode of Dora and Friends Into the City Doggie Day! The children absolutely loved the episode and sat watching it so quietly, whilst eating their popcorn. One of the other parents were saying how they liked it that Dora had grown up as it would help with the transition of their pre-schooler growing up and going to school.

To engage with the Latino element of Dora and Friends the children then had a go with a Piñata. We had no-where to hang it up so started by someone holding it. Things got a little violent though and it was then put on the floor to hit, then held up again! There was a bit of cheating but everyone got a little something and all were very happy.

The children then gathered in a circle for a special game of pass the parcel. In each layer there was a clue for the children to work out (as well as a prize). It was really lovely to see the older children helping the younger ones work out the missing letters. They then had to arrange all the words to make a sentence. They all did really well and received a certificate.

It was time to go home but each child received a sticker, balloon, took their colouring books and a goody bag (with bubbles, sweetie bag, poster and lais). They were all very excited and thanked us for a lovely time. It was a pleasure to have them.

I received a Party Host box in order to run a Dora and Friends party, all words and opinions are my own.

  1. What a lovely party, my daughter loves Dora too but she is yet to see the new Dora show, one thing I love about the show is that my little one has learned quite a few Spanish words which is really positive.

  2. What a lovely party – Dora’s hair has grown and it all looks to have changed such a lot in the short time since my twins watched!
