Asda Christmas 2015 Hamper #Giveaway

Christmas is different in every household because no 2 families are the same. It may start with who buys the presents – does Father Christmas get them all, just some stocking fillers, or does he just do the deliveries? Then when can you open presents – is as soon as Father Christmas has been okay? Or do you have to wait until the afternoon after you have eaten? Do you want to party or do you want to have a snooze on the sofa after watching a Christmas movie? However you do it ASDA allow you to do it your way #becauseitsChristmas.

Asda Christmas 2015

I was invited along to ASDA’s Christmas in July and I can share with you the readers a few of my favourites that I shall be purchasing this year. There was also a great range of Turkeys, Lobsters, Salmon, Cheese – never mind the fact that I can buy toys, clothes, dressing up, drinks and cosmetics – along with my regular food shop. ASDA have catered for everyone – those who like to go traditional and those who like convenience. You can have it however you want with ASDA’s motto #becauseitsChristmas.

Asda Christmas 2015

They not only cater for Christmas but Boxing Day and New Year too – with a great range of food and drink to make things how you want them to be #becauseitsChristmas. Or maybe you are like us and want to have party food Christmas day – ASDA have a huge range of foods conveniently made for you – and you can even stick them in the freezer. I love this idea as it means I do not have to fight those last minute shoppers.

Asda Christmas 2015

Personally we have our big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, and a finger buffet on Christmas day. This is to help our son with special needs cope with Christmas more easily – and for us to have more free time to deal with him on the day (as well as spending quality time with the children rather than cooking). To read more about why we have party food for Christmas Day read about how we adapt our Christmas to help our son with Special Needs.

  1. We start the day with the children (now aged 20, 18, 16 & 9) coming into our room to open stockings before going downstairs for a continental breakfast. We then get ready & go to church, where we celebrate Christmas with many friends. Things have changed in the past couple of years as my son works in a restaurant and earns good money for working Christmas Day and so we now sit down and eat our Christmas Dinner at about 5pm, once he has finished work #becauseitsChristmas.

  2. Because it’s christmas we close our eyes and make a wish whilst stirring the Christmas cake mixture! My mum used to do this with me and my siblings and now I do it with my own children!

  3. We visit all the family in England and France #becauseitsChristmas and try to work out a Father Christmas story that makes sense for both (he comes on 24th during the evening and knocks on the door in France while the kids are looking out of the window upstairs so there are no stockings to hang up … no crackers or turkey either !)

  4. Christmas eve is all about watching Its a Wonderful Life with the family in our PJ’s then opening a present each at midnight. On Christmas morning we all have a glass of bucks fizz whilst opening our presents and then have a bacon sandwich for breakfast! #becauseitschristmas

  6. We all open our stockings, the highlight of Christmas whatever our ages! We have a large lunch at about 1pm – turkey for the meat eaters and something else for the vegetarians, we usually play Scrabble, Boggle and other games after lunch. 10. All the presents are placed in one big heap. Grandad closes his eyes and picks a present at random. He passes it to whoever it is addressed to. We watch them open it. Then it is their turn to close their eyes and pick one. Repeat! If anyone picks their own present they have to put it back in the pile. Present opening goes on for ages!

  57. Christmas is a time for family, love and happiness. The night of Christmas Eve a mince pie , carrot and a drink for Santa were always left out for Santa and Rudolph. To bed I would go, in the morning I was allowed to open my stocking and one present before breakfast. Traditional out breakfast has always been scrambled egg with smoked salmon through, toast and bucksfizz or lemonade and orange juice when I was a child. After breakfast we would open some more presents taking turns in the giving of a present and the receiving . Some presents were from Santa and others were from our loved ones. Before Christmas dinner we would all get ready and put on our finest clothes. We would sit down to our traditional dinner starting with Royal game soup like every year, I love that soup!! Then we would pull the Christmas crackers and party poppers, put on the hats and tell the lame Christmas cracker jokes and have a laugh. Turkey time with roast potatoes, stuffing, carrots, sprouts and chestnuts, bread sauce , cranberry sauce , pigs in blankets and parsnips for those who liked them. After dinner we would unwrap any remaining presents and settle to watch a Christmas film or a new dvd we had been given for Christmas. My dad would light the coal fire and we would sit eating Turkish delights or sweets from which ever tin was opened first and more than often fall asleep before have Christmas pudding which we set alight first before eating with brandy sauce hehe. These are traditions I hope to keep going with my son and hopefully in the future a family of our own. That’s what Christmas is to me.
