Toby Carvery, Brockworth, Gloucester

I am sure many parents know what it is like for life to be too busy to fit in eating properly. Organised people may plan meals in advance, but this doesn’t always happen.  Sometimes it is good to have a night off from cooking and cleaning – especially when I am having a #ManicMumday. I was invited to take my family to the Toby Carvery over Christmas to take the pressure off. I opted to go to the Toby Carvery Brockworth – as it is actually one of our favourite places to go.

First of all I was super excited to learn that Toby Carvery now takes bookings. We love to go for special days but it is so good that you can often turn up and it be fully booked. In fact days like Mother’s Day you can’t even get in the car park. In fact we went for dinner on the 22nd December this year and are thinking of even calling it our Christmas dinner next year (but actually going on Christmas Eve as it is much cheaper). Now that to me must tell you what quality food and service.

There is the option of having Starters and main meals other than a – but we do love the carvery there. There are plenty of vegetarian options – including a meat-free carvery. We have taken the in-laws before and my father in law did order something off the menu and it came in good time. If you want a lighter bite than there is also baps and baguettes available – and you can add a cup of soup for only £1.50. Or you can pop in for breakfast.

We tend to be in a hurry when we eat out so we do like the fact that the four roast carvery (£5.99 for adults) is just ready. There is roast gammon (honey & mustard glaze), roast beef (British or Irish – lightly glazed with Tewkesbury mustard), roast turkey (British farm assured) and roast pork (glazed with apple & sage, served with crackling). The vegetables change throughout the year to ensure they have the best seasonal produce. They are then freshly steamed or roasted to preserve nutrients and for optimum flavour. The roast potatoes are low in fat and saturated fat as they are cooked in rapeseed oil. You can help yourself to all the vegetables you can eat, and there’s a range of choice of gravy and sauces.

The kids carvery also comes with chipolata sausages if they want it (or you can have them on the king size meal). There is a children’s meal deal of a carvery with dairy ice cream or bananas and custard for just £4.99. For dessert there’s a range of Sundaes and puddings – with the option of making your own sundaes. The boys loved the option of adding M&Ms to their ice-cream (for an additional 50p each).Cross Hands Inn, Toby Carvery, Brockworth, Gloucester

And why not treat yourself with a free ice cream sundae (please make sure you show your voucher before placing your order).Cross Hands Inn, Toby Carvery, Brockworth, Gloucester

There’s a range of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic; personally we are trying to drink more water and there has been no problem in asking for tap water for myself and my husband (as it is also free). The boys have refill fizzy drinks – and they can help themselves to more at the machine.

Conclusion of Toby Carvery Brockworth at Christmas

I loved how the Toby Carvery Brockworth had been decorated all festive. I am definitely pleased that I can no book online – and this was displayed at the place where you are shown to your table. The service is always fantastic and the food always tastes great. In fact my little boy loves the food so much that he piled his plate too high to carry. The staff were fantastic and it was not a problem; the mess was cleared and he was given another dinner (at no extra cost). I think the carvery offers great value and it is always good that there is such a range of vegetables to pick from.
