Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

Travelodge have been through a £100m refurbishment and offer great value for money for families – their upgraded family rooms have plenty of space for all the family at no extra cost, plus kids under 16 stay and eat breakfast for FREE! On arrival they have the room made-up ready; with family rooms having a king size bed, with four plump pillows and two pull out beds or pull out sofa bed, plus they have cots available too, if needed. It really is great value for families.Visit Bristol Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

Why I chose to visit Travelodge in Bristol

As a family to say things have been difficult the last 6 months would be an understatement. Our family unit means everything to myself and my husband and we have been working harder than ever to try to get things right. One of the ways is to ensure that each of us gets quality one-on-one time with other members of the family – a chance to develop those individual relationships, as well as a chance to talk about any worries or concerns.

My Instagram followers will already have seen that I spent some quality time with just myself and my youngest son last weekend – where we just went for a walk, talked and ate doughnuts. I realise that it does not have to be anything amazing planned and that it is the quality of the time given. In saying that apparently lots of short blasts of time is good, but I think we already do that and so it is the longer periods of time – with no distractions to show each of my boys how important they are to us.Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

I thought that my son who is turning 13 this summer would be the one who I felt would most benefit from a night away with me. When asked if I would like to review a newly revamped Travelodge I felt this was the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately things happened on Thursday which meant that this was not an option anymore and so plans had to be changed and instead I took the 8 year old. We had a lovely time and did the Zebra Trail.

About the Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel Location

According to Google maps Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel is situated just an 8 minute walk from the Bristol Temple Meads Train Station, 14 minutes from Cabot Circus in one direction, and 14 minutes in the opposite direction to At Bristol Science Centre. Travelodge Mitchell Lane Hotel is in a prime location to many of Bristol’s central attractions accessible by foot – or there is public transport if you wish to go further afield (such as to Cribbs Causeway Shopping Mall, The hotel is also located well for those wishing to fly from Bristol airport or visiting the International Balloon Fiesta).

In fact it didn’t even feel that far away from the center’s attractions at all: I am useless at directions and found the hotel and various places we wished to visit with ease (Bristol also has lots of sign posts and maps around). My son even pointed out that he could see the train station sign from the end of the road where the hotel was (I am terribly short-sighted). There is parking outside that costs up to £3.50 for a maximum 2 hour stay and hotel parking for guests.Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel Location

Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel Facilities, Quality & Comfort

The hotel itself is basic with a reception, bar lift, and rooms. It offered enough for a cheap place to stay the night – and was clean and comfortable. Our room had towels, TV with 17 channels, Tea and coffee making facilities, WiFi* (30 minutes FREE per day, 24 hours for just £3), Hand, hair & body wash and a shower. In fact the hotel has had all new mattresses and we found the beds and pillows very comfortable. We were in a disabled room which offered plenty of hand rails, red emergency cords and space. I liked how the space to hang the clothes was visible (my husband lost a really expensive shirt he left behind in a hotel once, hidden in the wardrobe!). The only improvements I would like to see are plug sockets near the bed (so I can charge my iPhone and use it in bed lol), and there was decaffeinated coffee provided but no (decaffeinated) tea.Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel Staff

The staff were exceptional throughout my stay. For me customer service is THE most important factor in a service provider. Check in is 3pm and check out 12 noon. We arrived slightly before 3 and did not have to wait. I had trouble connecting to the WiFi and reception helped me try to connect by calling the helpline number for me (it said it connected but still did not work but this may be a problem with my device); they offered us maps, asked several times if they could help and if our stay was comfortable (but not in an annoying over the top way), gave my son chocolate eggs and generally were just very pleasant, polite and attentive. I would like to make a special mention to Janja who when my son dropped his breakfast all over the floor ensured that he knew it was not a big deal, cleared it up and helped him get a fresh lot. She then told me how I should be proud of what a lovely boy he was and it was good to see him being so confident and independent.Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel Breakfast

Breakfast was ready for the 8am time we were told. It was self-service and pretty self-explanatory. The cooked breakfast was hot, and more was brought out as required. I have to say that I felt that the range of foods (both hot and cold) was a bit limited, the milk was warm (just kept in a jug) and the orange juice was very watered down. This I think is to do with Travelodge and not something about this particular branch. The tables were clean and had everything required, and everything was easy to find. We did not feel hurried to get on with our breakfast and neither was it overcrowded, considering that we had stayed over for Good Friday. Travelodge Bristol Central Mitchell Lane Hotel

  1. Ah this is really interesting, we’ll be looking for a hotel in Bristol for a night over the next couple of months so will bear this in mind. I agree with you about customer service, it’s so important and would make me more inclined to stay at Mitchell Lane.

  2. Sounds like brilliant customer service, I love it when a ‘budget’ hotel is still cosy and gives great service.
