About Finding Dory the Film

It has been 13 years since Finding Nemo but it has been worth the wait. Finding Dory film is bound to be a hit with families as it set a box office record for an animated film when it opened in the United States in June. Without giving too much away I thought that it was very well done – both as a stand-alone movie, but definitely as a sequel with very clever nods to the original. Suitable for so many ages as it works on so many levels – it is both funny and emotional (I cried several times!) With favourite characters you already know and love, as well as the introduction of some new ones. Do stay until after the credits as there is an animation afterwards.Finding Nemo Sequal Finding Dory Image

Finding Dory inspired Family Swim Sessions

Finding Dory inspired Family Swim Sessions will provide an hour of in-water storytelling for the whole family, teaching children key swimming skills as they are taken on a journey with Dory and friends, led by trained instructors. They are ASA approved and will run at hundreds of pools across the UK, between the 22nd July and September 4th 2016. The swim sessions are only available via booking. What a lovely tie-in with the Finding Nemo and Finding Dory films – with the famous lines, Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming – and there’s also a bit in the film that I think shows that even sealife need to practice getting good at some swimming moves.Just keep swimming FInding Dory

Swimming was said to be one of their favourite way to keep physically active during the summer holidays by over half the children (55%) in the research*. 39% of 5 to 11 year olds also said that they would want to go swimming more often if they could go with family members. We are really excited to try out these sessions as my children absolutely love swimming – and actually it is how we spent most of our summer last year. We live in an area which is prone to flooding so I felt it really important to get them confident in the water from a young age. I am lucky that their lessons continue throughout the summer. I feel it is a great way to keep the boys active and they have been motivated to #justkeepswimming by fun features at pools – such as waterslides, lazy rivers and wave machines. We have actually been known to drive really quite far just to try out a new pool (the furthest being the Tikibad at Duinrell in Holland).

Change4Life 10 Minute Shake Ups with Finding Dory

Time can be a big problem but the 60 minutes do not have to be done all at once and can be broken down into fun 10 minutes bursts. This summer sees the 3rd year of The Change4Life 10 Minute Shake Ups with Disney – with even more interactive Shake Ups than last year; including those inspired by the new Disney Pixar film Finding Dory. More about the Just Keep Moving Campaign

British diving champion Tom Daley, alongside double Olympic Gold medal-winning swimmer and mum Becky Adlington are also supporting the campaign. Tom is starring in a series of short films, which show that even serious athletes can take time for 10 minutes of fun, whilst Becky is sharing her top tips to encourage kids to have fun and get active this summer in and out of the pool.

Myself and my family were invited to an advanced screening of Finding Dory. Opinions are honest and my own.

  1. Oh that’s such a great way to use the positive influence of a film. Rebecca Adlington is fabulous too, I interviewed her for my blog a few years ago and she was lovely. We also spend a lot of time swimming in the summer, although this year we haven’t managed to do as much open water swimming as usual. Hoping normal service will be resumed next year because it’s fab for losing weight and I could do with all the help I can get!
