The Second Week of Jeffing Half Marathon Training

This post is about the Second Week of Jeffing Half Marathon Training. I had devised a Jeffing Half Marathon Plan for myself and my teen. For me the aim was to get sub 2 hours, and the teen was to complete his first one.

With the first week of half marathon training under our belts we moved to week 2. Already the Sub 2 hour Jeffing Half Marathon Training Plan had to be adapted to fit in with things.

Walking Day

The second week began with a beautiful Bank Holiday. Luckily it coincided with a walking day and we had gone to visit a family member who fancied a walk! We did just under 5 miles.

Strength Training

Finally we did some strength training. We had looked at joining a gym but it is all money isn’t it, especially when we are both not working. We also don’t really have time. I had no idea about what to do but the teen organised a repeated circuit of tasks to do. The younger teen also joined in.

Afterwards I even managed a short run.

Training to Suit what is Happening

Jeffing to time

I guess this is where the plan really started to be adapted. We were meant to do a fast 30 minute run but it was far too hot. Instead we walked for 3 miles and had a slow evening jeff for 30 minutes in the evening. We also had let slip with the eating better and had a Maccys breakfast. Although I did have a fruit bag and orange juice!

Then we went swimming too.

Friday Walk Day

As it was the school holidays both the younger boys came for our walk with us. It was a nice day and we covered over 6 miles. There was definitely some interesting sights on our walk!

Moving the Long Run

On the Sunday we had arranged to go and review Bewilderwood Cheshire. There was no way we were going to fit in a long run too so we did it on Saturday instead.

Second Week of Jeffing Half Marathon Training included a trip to Bewilderwood Cheshire

Teen has covered 10 miles before but at a nice gentle pace doing a 30:30. He was happy to do 10 again. We were also working on fuelling for him. It was very hot and it was a lot faster than he has covered that distance before.

It was also a route I like with a bit off-road. Our new trainers both got covered in mud and the teen wasn’t happy about the route. I tell you what though he flew through it! Whilst I struggled behind. He said it was because he wanted that bit over with.

Once we stopped to fuel he struggled. By the time we got to around 8 ½ miles he asked to walk for a bit. I made the decision that we should just go get a milkshake (we were right by the supermarket) and walk the rest home. That he had done really well.
