Parkrun<\/a> is currently my special interest. You may notice if you hang around a while. So I thought I would try and make it easier to find information that I have added to my blog from this page.<\/p>\n\n\n

10 Boomerangs of South Beach parkrun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You may have even ended up hearing about 10 Boomerangs of South Beach parkrun<\/a> due to my time as a Boomeranger and the adventures I had with JB9<\/a>. Thanks to being allowed to add my blog sticker to the Boomerang.<\/p>\n\n\n

Information if you are New<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Read on if you are new to parkrun<\/a> and I also have posts for if you are want to know more about Jeffing at parkrun<\/a>. In fact there’s a big push for people to walk at the moment. We want to encourage as many people to take part as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook Groups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Facebook has many different groups for those of different interests. Although parkrun can be such a great community event there are often disagreements about certain things. Not limited to but such as whether children should regularly run the whole 5k<\/a>; whether to Bring Back the Stats and if you should really attend an inaugural<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

One group is constantly evolving and at one point I wrote a post explaining the stats and challenges<\/a> it asked for, in an optional weekly data collection. Although I am pretty sure this no longer happens this remains a popular post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tourism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Personally I think these parkrun stats and challenges<\/a> are good at helping you whittle down the choices for which event you wish to attend. New events are growing in numbers all the time so it can be difficult. We just need to be mindful of how we can impact the course, the surrounding community (and landowners) and the volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially we went to the same event over and over again – in fact I have almost visited my home location 150 times. But more recently, to help motiation, we have been doing parkrun tourism. Usually I tend to write up about our parkrun<\/a> adventures at the different events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milestones and Volunteering at parkrun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Parkrun has different milestones and I recently completed my 250th running at parkrun<\/a> (which also includes walking). You can also complete them volunteering. You can just volunteer if you wish, and some volunteering postiions allow you to run (or walk) as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many different volunteering roles you can nip in and out of week to week – as well as dedicating yourself to a Core Team. <\/p>\n\n\n

Personally I volunteer 3 times a week outside of parkrun. Plus commitments on a Saturday make a lot of roles difficult to do. Therefore, you may note that recently a lot of my recorded volunteers are for “run report” – however, I do do things that are not recorded. You need to do what you are comfortable with. Maybe one day I will be confident enough to be a pacer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
