You may notice that I like making cakes with my children.<\/p>\n

It is a very simple recipe that even my 2 year old is able to get involved in, and a slight variation can make it seem less dull.<\/p>\n

I believe making them together has all manner of benefits for my children – bonding, counting, economics, weighing, self-confidence building – to name a few.<\/p>\n

\nFirst put on an apron<\/p>\n

Gather up your ingredients<\/p>\n

\nThen your equipment<\/p>\n

weigh and mix ingredients<\/p>\n

We used:<\/em><\/p>\n

8oz self raising flour<\/em><\/p>\n

8 oz of butter<\/em><\/p>\n

5 eggs<\/em><\/p>\n

60z castor sugar<\/em><\/p>\n

one teaspoon of baking powder<\/em><\/p>\n

Heap of chocolate drinking powder<\/em><\/p>\n

Count out the cake cases and put in the mixture<\/p>\n

Whilst they are cooking the most important part licking the spoon\u00a0and bowl \"20111205-190254.jpg\"<\/p>\n

Cook for 15-20mins at approx 180 degrees in a fan oven<\/p>\n

I do them until they smell cooked.<\/p>\n
