The trouble with eating fresh is that unless you buy good quality in the\nright quantities it can easily and quickly become food waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/strawberry-on-the-plant.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"juicy red strawberry growing on a plant\" class=\"wp-image-26259\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I was\ninvited with my family along to one of M&amp;S\u2019 Select Farms Wither\u2019s Fruit\nFarm in Ledbury with my family to discover about the farm to fork process. To\nlearn how M&amp;S work with British Select Farmers to provide delicious\nseasonal produce to customers at great value; offering the freshest and\ntastiest produce, and to try some recipes for myself. We got to meet the\nowners, talk to the growers, have a tour of the farm and also had an\nopportunity to \u2018pick our own\u2019 to enjoy at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/wither-frut-farm.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"Strawberry growing at Withers Fruit Farm one of M&amp;S British Select Farms\" class=\"wp-image-26260\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Withers Farm\nis a family-run fruit farm who have been supplying M&amp;S for 5 years and have\nbeen growing fresh fruit for over 50 years. It has evolved from a local farm\nserving wholesale markets to one of the largest fruit farms in the country. The\n700-acre farm originally grew strawberries and apples, before introducing\nblueberries and kiwi berries in 2008. Kiwi berries are full of nutritional\ngoodness are high\nin anti-oxidants, Vitamin C and a source of fibre. They can be just popped into your mouth\nwith no need to take the skin off; making them ideal snacks and additions to\nthe school lunchbox as an alternative snack to sweets and biscuits, plus they\nare fantastic value at only \u00a31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/kiwi-berries.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"Kiwi Berries growing at Withers Fruit Farm - one of M&amp;S' British Select Fruit Farms\" class=\"wp-image-26261\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We\ndiscovered about the rigorously high standards used to ensure that only the\nprime picks are selected from the strawberry patch. The strawberries are left\non the plant for longer to ensure that maximum sweetness, perfume and a rich\nred colour develops. Did you know that keeping the stalk on the strawberry\nkeeps them fresher for longer &#8211; so M&amp;S strawberries are picked with a\nspecific stalk length!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/perfect-strawberry-stalk-length.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"Perfect stalk length to keep strawberries fresher for longer with M&amp;S\" class=\"wp-image-26262\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>M&amp;S Select Farms are given this special title in\nrecognition of the steps they take to ensure animal welfare and protect the\nenvironment through innovative farming methods. I was impressed with the way Withers Farm considers\nthe impact it has on the environment and how they treat their workers. Little\ntouches such as encouraging bees to cross-pollinate and how strawberries are\ngrown on tables so that they are the right height to be picked without the\nworkers having to bend down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/table-height-strawberries.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"table height strawberries so workers at Withers Farm do not have to bend\" class=\"wp-image-26263\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I am an\nambassador Zero Waste so to me it is important that we make the most of the abundant seasonal produce available.\nM&amp;S has teamed up with chef\nand TV presenter, Chris Baber and their British Select Farmers, to create\nexclusive new recipes to celebrate home grown produce. His recipes are easy,\nspeedy, family friendly and use only the best M&amp;S Select Farm fresh\ningredients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/recipe-ingredients.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"strawberry recipes ingredients\" class=\"wp-image-26264\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Withers Farm supply M&amp;S with Red Diamond Strawberries, which are left to ripen on the plant\nfor longer, so they\u2019re deliciously sweet, full of flavour, and <strong>amazing value\nat \u00a32 a punnet<\/strong>! I was given the ingredients (all available at M&amp;S Food Stores) to\ntry a couple of recipes that utilise them for myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strawberry and almond milk oats<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Serves 4<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>1 punnet of\nM&amp;S Select Farms strawberries<\/li><li>400ml M&amp;S\nPlant Kitchen almond milk<\/li><li>2 tbsp M&amp;S\nroasted almond butter (or peanut butter), plus extra to serve<\/li><li>1 tbsp M&amp;S\nScottish Heather honey (or use maple syrup to make this dish vegan)<\/li><li>160g M&amp;S\njumbo porridge oats<\/li><li>60g almond\nflakes, toasted<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"901\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/overnight-oats-in-a-bowl.jpg?resize=1200%2C901\" alt=\"strawberry and almond milk oats suitable for vegans\" class=\"wp-image-26265\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Method<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Dice half the strawberries and combine with the\nalmond milk, almond butter, honey and oats.<\/li><li>Set aside in the fridge, ideally overnight (it will\nbe ready in a few hours, though).<\/li><li>When you\u2019re ready to serve, stir well and add a\nlittle more milk if it feels too dry.<\/li><li>Slice the remaining strawberries and serve in bowls\ntopped with berries, flaked almonds and a little extra almond butter.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>A good\nbreakfast is really important and if you can have the added advantage of adding\nfruit to it this is even better. Cereals are so full of sugar so this is a\nreally healthy alternative. I was delighted that our youngest son loved this &#8211;\nplus it can be got ready the night before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strawberry shortbread\nsundaes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Serves 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>2 scoops M&amp;S Cornish vanilla ice-cream<\/li><li>3 tbsp M&amp;S raspberry coulis<\/li><li>\u00bc punnet M&amp;S Select Farms strawberries, sliced<\/li><li>2 shortbread biscuits (30g)<\/li><li>3 tbsp double cream, lightly whipped to soft peaks (you\nmay need to add icing sugar to help with this)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/strawberry-sundae-ingredients.jpg?resize=1200%2C900\" alt=\"strawberry shortbread sundaes ingredients\" class=\"wp-image-26266\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>First, put a scoop of ice cream in the bottom of a sundae\nglass.<\/li><li>Next, layer coulis, strawberries and some crumbled\nshortbread.<\/li><li>Repeat this process again, then top with the whipped\ncream.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Finish with more strawberries, a drizzle of coulis and a\ncrumbling of shortbread.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/strawberry-sundae.jpg?resize=1200%2C1600\" alt=\"strawberry sundae\" class=\"wp-image-26267\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s face it who can resist a sundae &#8211;
