They are in their forties living in Moray Scotland with their 11 children. Zoe says she\u2019d fit more in easy (to the house)! Ben says you\u2019d have 20 in here, to be honest. Says there\u2019s space in their room!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pair say that they didn\u2019t consciously decide to have a lot of children &#8211; they just did. \u201cWe never said stop,\u201d they tell us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sullivan Children<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is Elisabeth 15, Olivia 13, Twins Isabella and Charlotte 12, Noah 10, Eva 8, Toby 7, Twins Leah and Erin 4, Agnes May 3 and Joseph aged 2. With a hand written ledger tracking every penny they spend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben is an RAF craft engineer and there are lots of references to it in the voice-overs terminology. He has an average weekly income of \u00a3600 a week (31,200 a year) but with higher outgoings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Sullivan Family Food Shopping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Zoe says that shopping is their biggest expenditure. Stating that they spend over \u00a31,000 a month. But Ben says it\u2019s over \u00a3300 a week. They get through a lot of milk. They got rid of their two seven seater cars, say that they (the parents) don\u2019t go out together, and don\u2019t have holidays: Although they would like to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of a holidays they saved up for 3 months for a super-sized day trip to a local wildlife park. They only do them on special occasions because it is quite expensive. Ben tells us that it can be anything up to \u00a380-100 extra on food, fuel, tickets for the park &#8211; which will probably cost up to \u00a3200. That the day out is likely to cost \u00a3600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charlotte, aged 12, tells us that don\u2019t have enough seats in the car to just go and drive to days out. For this trip Ben had hired a 12 seater minibus and they prepared as much as they could the night before, including getting all the car seats in ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zoe says that she thinks that it means that little bit more to them because they don\u2019t do it that often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/talk-to-the-cows.jpg?resize=800%2C533\" alt=\"Middle Piccadilly Spa Retreat\" class=\"wp-image-22774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/talk-to-the-cows.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/talk-to-the-cows.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/talk-to-the-cows.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Money and the family day out<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When they arrive they have early lunch. \u201cIt\u2019s always cheaper for us and easier for us to get a picnic cos we can just get it as soon as we get there and they can eat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben tells us, \u201cIt\u2019s cost a lot of money today but if that was our constant barrier, we\u2019d never do anything\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sullivan Family Christmas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Christmas is the biggest time of year. With months of careful planning as soon as the summer holidays are over. Wrapping for two weeks.&nbsp; About 300 presents to unwrap. It\u2019s the time when everyone is at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben says that they \u201cdon\u2019t want the kids to feel that they have had to dip out because we have so many kids. And that\u2019s really important to us. They are part of a large family, we can afford to have that large family. And we don\u2019t want them to miss out\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/christmas-tree-and-presents.jpg?resize=768%2C1024\" alt=\"Christmas tree and presents wrapped up\" class=\"wp-image-24183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/christmas-tree-and-presents.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/christmas-tree-and-presents.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/christmas-tree-and-presents.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Zoe says, \u201cWe budget probably about \u00a33,000 maybe for Christmas.\u201d The children have a limit of \u00a3225. With Ben saying that, \u201cThe worst thing to happen for us to get a loan out to cover Christmas so we try and be as savvy as we can, really.\u201d Zoe adds, \u201cWe\u2019ll spend sort of \u00a3400-500, Christmas food.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things We Discovered about the Sullivan Family<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Things I noted were that the babies appear to be bottle fed. I do find this interesting as a lot of the big families I know have breastfed. It is, in my opinion, easier as well as cheaper. This is not a judgement, just as I say, something I find interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Sullivan Family School Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben helps until the <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/2021\/05\/30\/trutex-school-uniform-comfortable-and-practical-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">school<\/a> run and then goes to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the older girls tell us that \u201cThe mornings in our house are crazy because we are all trying to get ready at the same time. Trying to get in the bathroom cos we only have one bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That before the children go to school they are on tech, ask Ben tells them they have to get off now. The older girls are out by half past eight. It looked calm and organised. Ben says one of the children is hiding (in sight) but he\u2019s very calm. He seems very chilled and a really good dad. He always seems to be talking to the children, as well as helping to take care of them. We also later see him reading to a group of the children. It is nice to see that although he works he is also very hands on with the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Children\u2019s Thoughts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Eva said, life in a big family is fun, but pretty crazy and pretty noisy. Charlotte said &#8211; It\u2019s never, like too quiet in the house because that\u2019s a bad thing if it\u2019s quiet. That means one of the little ones have escaped or something. They tell us that \u201cAgnes is a runner. You have to keep your eye on her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Zoe Sullivan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The voice over says that after the school run mum Zoe\u2019s day is just getting started &#8211; like she hasn\u2019t been doing stuff all morning! Note she clearly has! Zoe says she\u2019s always tidying up with at least 3 or 4 loads of washing a day. Ben talks about how Zoe put some expensive school jumpers on the wrong wash.
