Clevedon Marine Lake<\/a> is a tidal infinity pool filled with seawater. Perfect for people of all ages and abilities; including accessibility with slopes and handrails. Not far from junction 20 of the M5, nearer to Bristol than Weston Super Mare, and less crowded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Clevedon Marine Lake<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MARLENS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Clevedon Marine Lake is run by a charity called MARLENS (Marine Lake enthusiasts). <\/strong>Volunteers organise activities, carry out routine maintenance, keep the lake tidy and provide information to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the summer they test the lake\u2019s water quality; if the red flag is flying it means that the water is not safe to swim. Otherwise the lake is open almost all the time, with no need to book. You can plan your visit by looking at the calendar<\/a>, and check for tide times before you come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note it is asked that you do not bring a dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clevedon Marine Lake Itself<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The salty water is shallow around the edges and deep by the sea wall. There are no tides or currents in the lake itself, but the water is cold<\/a>. However, at 12.8m hide tide will overtop the outer sea wall and flood the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lake hosts schools, clubs, sporting fixtures, corporate events, and numerous individual and family activities. Clevedon Marine Lake is open to swimmers, including with inflatables, paddle-boarders, canoeists and kayakers. Other opportunities include sailing, boat hire, model boating, crabbing, zorbing, yoga and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Children<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Plus there\u2019s also a children\u2019s water play area and an island to jump off for extra fun! As well as a nearby play park and big grassy area, bike park, mini golf and small arcade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swim at your own Risk<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As there are no lifeguards, at Clevedon Marine Lake, it gives a great free bridge between wanting to swim wild whilst having some protection. You are swimming at your own risk but without the pulls of currents or rips from the rivers and sea. Also there is a great swimming community and everyone is encouraged to watch out for one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charity Donations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is free to enter although as it is charity run then donations are welcomed. There are donation boxes around (with a suggested \u00a31 contribution). Alternatively you can donate online by using Everyclick, or by becoming a member of the Lake; or by playing their lottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food and Drink<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There is also a chip shop catering van there. Sorry I did not get prices but they were in line with the average fish and chip shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But also you can get drinks there (which I did get the prices for):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tea \u00a31.50, coffee \u00a32.50, hot chocolate \u00a32.50, water \u00a31.20 and cans from \u00a31.20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toilets are 20p. The Pub did let swimmers use the toilets before opening hours but aren’t during covid. If you don’t have change then there are local supermarkets with toilets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking Charges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can park at the Salthouse Fields pay and display car park<\/a> (BS21 7TU).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charges apply 8am-6pm 7 days a week including Bank Holidays. Low season charges apply 1st<\/sup> November-1st<\/sup> March. Peak season charges 2nd<\/sup> March-31st<\/sup> October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can pay by phone or app. If paying by cash no change can be given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
