This is because the run looks like a windmill. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"680\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/strava-art-of-windmill-course-at-Oude-Warande-parkrun.jpg?resize=800%2C680&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Strava Art windmill course at Oude Warande parkrun\" class=\"wp-image-35836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/strava-art-of-windmill-course-at-Oude-Warande-parkrun.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/strava-art-of-windmill-course-at-Oude-Warande-parkrun.jpg?resize=300%2C255&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/strava-art-of-windmill-course-at-Oude-Warande-parkrun.jpg?resize=768%2C653&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Also it is quite a practical location for getting back to Calais for either the Shuttle or a ferry crossing back into England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally I chose this course because it wasn\u2019t near any Zs (which I thought may get overwhelmed) and close to our Eurocamp. Not only that but it ticked another letter off my third alphabet. Then after the briefing (and group photo) it was a little walk back towards the centre for the start. Finishing back where the briefing was held and the sign and caf\u00e9 are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oude Warande parkrun Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A one lap flat course in the shape of windmill with four triangle blades. Unpaved lanes through a 400 year old park. With the finish in the middle. Although someone else got <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/04\/15\/bitten-by-a-dog-at-parkrun-what-happened-to-me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">bitten by a dog at parkrun<\/a>. The owner was spoken to and the lady received medical treatment to ensure the bite was cleaned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Experience of Oude Warande parkrun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arrival<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My husband was worried that we were arriving too early and that we would be the first. Honestly there wasn\u2019t even as many people as I anticipated but yes of course there was already a queue for the Oude Warande parkrun sign. Catching up with friends old and new. Including ones I met over the Bank Holiday weekend in <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/05\/31\/uerdinger-stadtpark-parkrun-a-special-weekend-in-germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Germany<\/a> and on the <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/06\/03\/zuiderpark-rotterdam-parkrun-test-run-of-new-z-coming-to-the-netherlands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Test Run<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Briefing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>What an absolutely amazing briefing. Delivered fluently in so many languages! Also with a shout out for my birthday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Run<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting off well despite the heat I thought I may even get a really good time. As it was, even with the shade of the trees, it was just too hot. By 2km in I decided to walk. Despite encouragement I had just mentally given up. As we got near the finish a man got in the way and I, obviously, let the junior and (am assuming dad) go in front to avoid an accident. Also, as we got nearer the finish, the \u201cdad\u201d put his arms out horizontally as if I may nip around him and he was stopping me getting between the two of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strava<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My stats told me I did some impressive things but I think it was because I accidentally started my watch and then just paused it until the start. But we had to walk to the start so I think it recorded this \u201cjump\u201d I edited this out and lost my strava group. Despite walking loads of times (I had convinced myself I would just walk every km but it was much more!!) I managed a sub29!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Post parkrun faff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No finish pictures as my husband just didn\u2019t see me. He did treat me to a cake with my coffee from the caf\u00e9 afterwards. Even the cake wrapper seemed to make a windmill design on it. My running attire although different was quite similiar to one I wore then. Apparently they had been running behind me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oude Warande parkrun Stats Special Event May 25<sup>th<\/sup> 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Expecting a record attendance and they weren\u2019t wrong. With 469 finishers, beating their inaugural (107)! With Emma Pick beating the female course record with 18:46 age grading of 78.86%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>210 male, 258 female and 1 unknown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>12 people doing their very first parkrun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A further 412 first time tourists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>19 PBs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"328\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/oude-warande-parkrun-30-2026-05-25-2-328x1024.jpg?resize=328%2C1024&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Oude Warande parkrun stats special event\" class=\"wp-image-35841\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/oude-warande-parkrun-30-2026-05-25-2.jpg?resize=328%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 328w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/oude-warande-parkrun-30-2026-05-25-2.jpg?resize=96%2C300&amp;ssl=1 96w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/oude-warande-parkrun-30-2026-05-25-2.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finishing Times<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Times ranging between 16:53-1:06:25<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An impressive 7 sub 19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>13 sub 20 (including the 7 already mentioned)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>98 participants were done within 25 minutes.\n<ul>\n<li>The first under 18 was actually in the JM11-14 category in an impressive 21:02 (remember it was HOT and busy).&nbsp; With a 68.94% age grading.
