These were held at Wavertree Athletics Stadium in Liverpool. Not the nearest as that I believe is Princes parkrun. However, I fancied getting another O in preparation for a fourth in the parkrun <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/01\/29\/parkrun-alphabet-what-you-need-to-know-on-becoming-an-alphabeteer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Alphabeteer challenge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Ormskirk-parkrun-sign.jpg?resize=1000%2C750&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Ormskirk parkrun sign\" class=\"wp-image-36282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Ormskirk-parkrun-sign.jpg?w=1000&amp;ssl=1 1000w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Ormskirk-parkrun-sign.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Ormskirk-parkrun-sign.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Edge Hill University, Sporting Edge, St Helens Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 4QP<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facilities at Ormskirk parkrun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Toilets are open close to the start\/finish area at 8:45am.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessible by foot\/bus\/train and car (with free parking).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is a sports centre so there are showers &#8211; I would check it is okay to use them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ormskirk parkrun Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another course that could potentially be seen as having \u201cStrava art\u201d &#8211; but not quite as family friendly as <a href=\"https:\/\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/06\/04\/oude-warande-parkrun-a-special-event-on-my-birthday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Oude Warande parkrun<\/a>\u2019s windmill! <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"820\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ormskirk-parkrun-strava-art.jpg?resize=1000%2C820&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Ormskirk parkrun Strava art\" class=\"wp-image-36283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ormskirk-parkrun-strava-art.jpg?w=1000&amp;ssl=1 1000w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ormskirk-parkrun-strava-art.jpg?resize=300%2C246&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/ormskirk-parkrun-strava-art.jpg?resize=768%2C630&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>A road shoes course which begins on the outside of a running track. Heading in an anti-clockwise direction you follow the track around for about half a lap. Note at no point do you run on the running track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next you go right onto the trim trail. Then pass the all-weather pitches, following the path as it bends left down the hill. You\u2019ll turn left a few times and then end up at Hairpin Hill. This has a 180 degree turn at the top. Finally running back towards the running track. Turning left and then it is just 100m to the finish. This is not as far away as the start was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No dogs course, other than guide dogs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be completely honest we did miss the first timers briefing. Not sure why as we got there in time and even went to the toilet and did a selfie with the sign!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I was expecting to run on the track I opted for my intervals pro setting and then my watch almost died! All I knew was it was two laps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it was easy to follow everyone else. Quite rightly I positioned myself behind two pushchairs &#8211; one being a double. They did indeed both finish before me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Not Consistent<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the congestion did slow me to around a 6:40 pace. This then spiked me to a 4:29\/km which may have also caused me to slow right down by 2km!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was just the start of my spiking and walking I think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finish<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As I say I thought the finish was further away. Although I did speed up it wasn\u2019t a sprint and there were so many of us finishing at once that I had to let someone in. Of those 230 were male, 118 female and 13 unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Thank you to the 34 volunteers that made this event happen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7 first timers to parkrun<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>33 tourists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finishing Times<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First finisher Ben was one of the 48 people to achieve a PB.
