There was the\u00a0villain\u00a0to boo at Abanazar (or-have-a-banana) played by Jeffrey Harmer. My three year old really enjoyed Booing!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin1.jpg?resize=199%2C300\" alt=\"aladdin\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lots of comedy with PC Ping Pong (played by Jonathan Mulquin)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_police.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_police.jpg?resize=199%2C300\" alt=\"panto_police\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And of course, following tradition, plenty of pain for him!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_comedy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_comedy.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"panto_comedy\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">No Panto would be a Panto without the traditional role reversal &#8211; of course the main role of Aladdin &#8211; played by Madeleine Leslay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_and_lamp.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_and_lamp.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"aladdin_and_lamp\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And\u00a0I loved my 3 year old&#8217;s reaction to Widow Twanky, played by the amazing Noel White, as he said, &#8220;Mum, that man is funny!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/widow_twanky.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/widow_twanky.jpg?resize=300%2C199\" alt=\"widow_twanky\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">There was the traditional &#8220;he&#8217;s behind you,&#8221; with Wishee Washee (Geraint Rhys Edwards) trying to train Tyson the panda (Olayinka Giwa); and\u00a0bad jokes, singing, and dancing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/wishy_washy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/wishy_washy.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"wishy_washy\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I spoke to a little girl called Scarlet, during the interval, and she said that her favourite part was the Princess Jasmine &#8211; played by Millie Booth (who also played the Genie of The Ring).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_and_princess.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_and_princess.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"aladdin_and_princess\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Well done to Musical Director Andy Allpass and Steve Crickett on Percussion for the great sounds, including up-to-date modern music such as Gangman Style, as well as more traditional love songs; and fab sound effects &#8211; such as when Aladdin goes into the cave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Of course there was plenty of audience participation, with the involvement of children being called out of the audience to go up on stage as young as 5, and they were given a little goody bag to take away too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">With lots of audience singing and clapping their hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It was my husband&#8217;s Nan&#8217;s\u00a0birthday and so we thought we&#8217;d treat her. And what a treat it was! They even wished her Happy Birthday for us and got the audience to sing the Birthday song for her.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_entertainment.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/panto_entertainment.jpg?resize=300%2C241\" alt=\"panto_entertainment\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The\u00a0choreography\u00a0was amazing &#8211; and I was especially impressed by the younger dancers. The Chorus was made up of two groups (we saw the Rubies but there was another group the Sapphires so that the girls didn&#8217;t have to do every performance). The Roses held auditions back in October for 8-16 year olds to form the chorus and give youngest a help getting their first step on their career ladder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The make up, costumes (some very sparkly numbers) and scenery were amazing &#8211; the changes were so quick and efficient. The effects were brilliant &#8211; and my favourite was\u00a0the flying carpet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_cast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pinkoddy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/aladdin_cast.jpg?resize=300%2C199\" alt=\"aladdin_cast\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Programmes were available (\u00a33), as were light up toys, to entertain the children, sweets and drinks &#8211; but the only extra entertaining the children needed were in the interval!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This was a fantastic production and well worth a visit &#8211; if you&#8217;ve not booked your tickets yet you can do so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosestheatre.org\/\">here<\/a>\u00a0and if you have &#8211; enjoy :O)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week we went to The Roses Theatre to see Aladdin, written and directed by Ben Crocker.
