My thoughts on Hallmark Hotel Gloucester
I stayed at the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester via Buyagift.co.uk. I thought that Hallmark Hotel Gloucester was easy to find, access and park. Immediately it looked a lovely place to stay and I liked the easy of locating the reception to check in. Staff were very helpful and accommodating – making me feel completely at ease to ask any questions if I was unsure of something. I was provided with 2 keys, the all-important WiFi code (which unfortunately did not work in the rooms but did in other areas), and details of when food was available. There were festive touches throughout the hotel, making for a very pleasant stay. The front desk, restaurant and lounge/bar looked more than a 3-star. The rooms themselves had all we needed for our stay: plug sockets to recharge our phones (although I do wish they were designed next to the bed), bedside lights, iron, hair dryer, toiletries, towels and heated towel radiator, tea and biscuits, comfy beds, a desk and chairs. The rooms were clean, with a good-sized window for light, a lovely view outside, and a good temperature. The hotel was signed posted to get around, and there were always plenty of employees to ask if you were unsure of the way.
The Health Club at Hallmark Hotel Gloucester
The staff at the Health Club were very friendly. I have hardly ever been to a gym and hate doing things when I do not know what I am doing. But they made me feel relaxed and at ease and I was pointed in the direction of the personal trainer who not only showed me how to use the running machine, but came back to encourage me and make sure that I was OK. In fact he did such a great job that I woke at 6:30am the next morning and headed straight back to the gym.
The gym was well stocked with all manner of machines and equipment, split over 2 rooms, as well as an indoor court. The Health club was easy to get around, towels were provided and the pool was big enough to swim in (as well as having Jacuzzis and being shaped in a way to make it relaxing). The sauna and steam rooms were well placed by the side of the pool and drinking water was available next to them. The changing rooms were clean, had lockers provided (using a refundable £1) and the keys had bands with them – making it easy to workout/swim without worrying about losing it. There was soap provided in the showers and wet bags for costumes (as well as a towel service at reception). There was a big area for getting changed or you could go in one of the cubicles that had benches (and one with a chair) opposite the shower cubicles.
Spa Treatments at Hallmark Health Club
Our stay included a 25 minute treatment (I opted for the back, neck and shoulder massage) – but there are a variety of fantastic treatments offered (all at very reasonable prices). These include a variety of facials, hot stones, Swedish massages, Spray Tan, Manicures & Pedicures, Waxing, Eye Treatments and Body Treatments (polish, revive, scrub or wraps). I think these would make a great gift – and vouchers are available from £10. There is currently a special offer of a choice of 3* treatments for just usually £70. *Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage, Express Facial, Mini Manicure, Mini Pedicure, Bright Eye Rescue or Indian Head Massage.
On arrival I was welcomed by staff and shown to the room where I would have my massage. I was asked some questions – such as if I am pregnant. Apparently they have to use different pressures then and some places have to use different oils/lotions. Again rooms were clean and well presented. The only thing I would say is that there was no curtain or anything to get undressed behind, or a towel offered to cover any modesty to get on to the bed. Whilst I was fine with that I am not sure that everybody would be so comfortable. The lady giving the massage was very good, and kept checking that I was ok and that the pressure was right. On leaving I was given a cup of water and her card.
Food at the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester
The Hallmark Hotel Gloucester offer food throughout the day, including room service. The afternoon tea looked delicious. Dinner was table service, with staff being polite and courteous. We were seated at a table (asking where we would prefer to sit), given menus and our drinks order taken. The tables had the necessary cutlery, a candle and a napkin. I had a 3 course meal off the standard menu, but a Festive Menu was also available. Our wait for food was a short one, with staff checked that we were happy with our meals or if we required anything else. There were a good variety of food options – including vegetarian. I opted for a Prawn and Crayfish cocktail, followed by a roast turkey dinner and Christmas pudding. The presentation of the food was superb and I have to say it was all very delicious and a good size. In fact the turkey dinner was so generous with the meat that I could not eat it all.
Again we were seated at our table and offered hot drinks. Breakfast was self-service with a good variety of options – from fresh and dried fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast, cereal and a full English. As well as the range of hot drinks, there were a variety of juices and water. Customer service again was impeccable (when I managed to flood the table with juice as I didn’t seem to be able to turn off the dispenser and the staff patiently told me it was not a problem and tidied it up again!). The area wasn’t too crowded and there was not much of a wait. The food tasted nice and was plentiful. There was the option of coming in and buying a breakfast – which I think must be popular with those coming in early morning to use the fantastic Health facilities.
Conclusion of Hallmark Hotel Gloucester
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester. I can certainly see myself wanting to visit again as a relaxing break. I think it would be perfect for so many occasions as the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester offers so much, not only in terms of its fantastic facilities and location, but special events and evenings such as Murder Mystery Night, Motown Night (90s Party Night), Fire & Ice Party nights. In fact it looks great for a Christmas get together – with all-inclusive party nights costing only £50 per person which not only includes a 3 course carvery, bacon baps, a DJ, photo booth and party games BUT welcome cocktails, unlimited bar and wine throughout the meal and fully inclusive bar including premium spirits from 10pm-12! As the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester is literally across the road from Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre we popped over to go Tubing – this is just perfect for families, individuals or groups. Or mum could relax in the spa whilst the kids go skiing or tubing across the road! Or even for meeting up with the girls, or a Mother’s Day treat! I definitely see that the Hallmark Hotel Gloucester has so much potential – whether you live close by or far away. Our stay was very pleasant and I would absolutely say worth a visit.
I visited Hallmark Hotel Gloucester on the Monday/Tuesday before Christmas via Buyagift.co.uk. This included a Spa treatment, overnight stay, and breakfast for 2. Hallmark Hotel Gloucester also provided myself and a friend with dinner which would have been included as part of their inclusive dinning for guests in return for inclusion in the review and to help with our promotion for local businesses. I only offer honest reviews, so all words and opinions are my own.
