People’s reviews of places can be so important can’t they? That’s why when it came to Mothers’ Day I wanted to go somewhere that was well recommended. The Waterfront Bar and Restaurant in Plymouth was one of those such places, a former yacht club which serves seafood and pub favourites. They had a set Mothers’ Day menu which removed some of my favourite options so I booked for the Saturday evening beforehand.
The Waterfront is, as it sounds, on the water front and has its own harbour allowing diners to arrive by boat. Patrons can then decide whether to sit inside or out admiring the stunning views. As we went for an evening meal we also got to enjoy the sun setting over the water! Not far from Smeaton’s Tower, Drake’s Island and Brittany Ferries!
There was something on the menu at The Waterfront for everyone. You simply ordered and paid at the bar with your table number. It isn’t a fast food venue but we weren’t waiting so long that we were bored and hungry. Besides there was plenty of things to look at inside and out of the restaurant. The children were also given entertainment on the back of their menu sheets and colouring crayons. The Waterfront Team were all pleasant and efficient (I particularly liked it when they offered me some free cider so I could try before I buy!).
For those that know me let me say that I did not have any pudding at all! My oldest two boys both had fish and chips and there was again plenty for them (the only complaint being the amount of salt on the fish).
