We were in London for All Points East Festival and so decided to head to Greenwich Peninsula parkrun. It wasn’t the closest one to where we were staying, however it was a low number (event 37). Which also happened to be a Prime Number (see parkrun Stats and Challenges). As a bonus it also meant we got a free ride on the cable car as used to be the case when Victoria Dock parkrun was still going.

Facilities
- Plenty of public transport there (bus, train and tube)
- There is no street parking close to the event
- Toilets in Caspino café at the start and North Greenwich station
- Free ride on cable car after 9am with parkrun barcode. Just show your barcode and they will let you through. Either one way or stay and on and come back around.

Greenwich Peninsula parkrun Course
The course at Greenwich Peninsula parkrun is an out and back starting at the finish in the middle. You go out and turn around about 400m. You will go further than the start and around the O2. Until you get to another turn around point. Again you go beyond the start but be aware that you actually go a lot further than the first turn around (before turning around again). Then the finish is by the briefing point.
The finish funnel goes uphill a bit but the finish is flat.
All on path and a keep left course. However, I was confused as to whether one side was a bicycle path prior to the start, but then it is clear that both lanes have pictures of bicycles on.
My Experience
Thank you to the volunteer at Greenwich Peninsula parkrun who answered so many of my questions. Very friendly all round. Lots of people doing lots of warming up – and not a quick one either!
After the briefing I heard something about sub 18 runners and thought we were going to get into some kind of order. However, this didn’t happen and so it was rather congested at the start as I had ended up too far back.
By the turn around I was able to get in place but feel I probably then went too quickly to make up for it. It was nice to get a little bit of rain but I still gave up and walked at 4km. Still, just about, managing to be first family finisher!
