About Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter is a great place to visit and suitable for a variety of people with family friendly restaurants, bowling alley, soft play centre, fitness gym and cinemas. Easy to get to by car and public transport, with plenty of parking nearby. The Brewery opened in May 2006 with the former Brewhouse still being part of the newly built complex. I was invited along to a VIP Night out Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter to experience what the centre has to offer.

Brewhouse & Kitchen at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
The evening began at the newly opened Brewhouse & Kitchen for a Beer Masterclass Taster. We got to taste test 3 very different beers but not before a very extension knowledge behind each one beforehand. This included the process behind how they were made, the contents in them, the alcoholic level, even why they were a particular colour, and how they were named after Cheltenham born famous people.
Crystal Rock – after Richard O’Brien presenter of The Crystal Maze and writer of The Rocky Horror Show comedy musical; Colonel Jack – after Colonel Claude Reigner Conder who was believed to be Jack the Ripper; and Landed Eagle II – of course after local heroic failure British Ski Jumper Eddie the Eagle.
If you want to make a day of it, or are looking for a special gift idea there are Brewery Experience Days for £85 per person. This includes breakfast, lunch, beers with the brewer and you get to take home your own brew 5 litre mini keg.

Nandos at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
I have to admit that this was my first time visiting Nandos. I was pleasantly surprised about the amount of information available for their spices – including a hotness guide. Not being a vegetarian I did feel there was more choice than I usually see and actually opted to try the veggie option of the Supergrain as a side dish.
My experience was that the restaurant was clean, the food was delicious and quickly prepared and that the customer service was excellent: I was even offered to take the rest of my wrap home with me. I did really like all the little “chicken” touches around the restaurant too.

Hollywood Bowl at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
I have to admit that this was probably about my 4th visit to Hollywood Bowl Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter, but my first without my children. It is a really fresh and modern bowling alley and I noticed extra features that I had previously missed (such as pins hanging from the ceiling and very comfy sofas). I had actually been unaware of the bar and it was nice to have a pint of cider with the game.
Having worn my flat shoes to the night out I did not have to change my shoes, which is always nice – plus they kindly let me have the bumpers up. As there was absolutely nothing wrong with the lanes I had nothing left to blame for my lack of skills (although I did get a spare).

Frankie & Benny’s at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
I just love Frankie & Benny’s – not to mention that there’s 20% off with NUS! We popped in and sampled their delicious deserts. There was a nice variety and they were willing to adapt them too (I did not fancy a sauce so they left it out for me). The restaurant was clean, well-lit and had good customer service. The food was brought out in good time and tasted delicious. I think they were also very reasonably priced.

Cineworld at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter
With all these places being so close to each other you can really make the most of the night, this was truly the case for us as we literally just went over to the cinema in time for the film, with no having to wait around. Cineworld at Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter is accessible on the next level (we went up and down escalators but I am sure there is a lift). Before passing the ticket point there is the opportunity to buy snacks and refreshments, beyond there are toilets. The cinema is clean and spacious, with seats being comfortable and staggered in order to get a good view. As you would expect from a Cineworld the film was of a good quality image and sound. We saw Nice Guys which was different from my usual film – it was funny, an easy follow storyline and a lot of action.
