Les Genêts Campsite with the Sun Holidays

Les Genêts Campsite is located in St Jean-de-Monts, which is on the Coast of Light in the department of Vendee and region of Pays de la Loire  – which is one of the most popular resorts on the Atlantic coast. Fantastic as a stand-alone holiday, a base to explore places such as Puy du Fou or to travel to and/or from places further away.

Sun Holiday to Les Genêts Campsite

We visited Les Genêts Campsite for a Sun £15 Holiday visiting from Monday to Friday in July. Based on 5 people we paid a total price of £122.80. That is £75 (£15.00 per person) plus the £2.80 booking fee; then a £7.50 per night service fee (£30) and FREE entertainment. Then there was a £15 Equipment Damage waiver (you can instead opt for a £100 refundable deposit if no equipment is damage). I usually pay the insurance (£8.50 a trip I believe), but as we took 3 Sun Holidays at once it was cheaper to buy it separately for our trip. This was the same with the Ferry – it is cheaper to book through the Sun Holidays but check if your vehicle isn’t just a standard car (for example if you have a top box) – we couldn’t because of the length of our holiday.

About Our Sun Holiday to Les Genêts Campsite

Our Sun Holiday to Les Genêts Campsite for 5 was with Eurocamp. We had a 2 bedroom accommodation – which had one bathroom, a double room and a room with two single twin beds and a bunk across the top of them (which was quite small even for our 10 year old). There was no air conditioning but there was a gas barbecue provided.

We had to go to the first reception to receive our wrist bands before taking the car through the barrier. It used to be that all Eurocamp hosts took you to your accommodation but that doesn’t seem a thing anymore – our host was more than happy to do this though – and throughout our stay it was clear we could contact them on their mobile at any time and we were checked whether everything was ok (and not that straight away time when you haven’t noticed either). When it was time to go too, a host came and ensured that everything was right with our stay – I was very impressed.

The Eurocamp caravans were between other pitches for people to put their own accommodation on – we had a tent pitched up right outside and a motor-home opposite. The only problems we had were that we were next to another camp which was loud at night (typically starting as we wanted to sleep). There were amazing giant pine cones around – but things just fell from the trees above onto us.

Family Facilities at Les Genêts Campsite

Les Genêts Campsite is a family-friendly campsite which already boasted a fantastic outdoor pool with Indian theming, slides, jet pool, splash area, lazy river, jaccuzi and indoor pool. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to try their new LEGO incorporated heated pool and slides which has opened ready for the summer 2019. There are different slides based on the age and height of individuals. Note there are changing rooms but no lockers for your valuables – I had a safety pin to attach the caravan key to my swimming costume. There were also plenty of sun loungers both inside and out.

Les Genêts Campsite also has on offer a Games room (with arcade machines), an epicerie; a great play area on sand (with football/basketball court behind it), a place to secure bicycles; a one-way traffic system (although it isn’t always clear), family entertainment and with walking distance to a lifeguarded beach (with lots of wonderful sea life including compass jellyfish), mini-golf and supermarket.

Places to Visit near Les Genêts Campsite

We had a complimentary trip to Puy du Fou but there is a discount code included with your Sun Holiday via Eurocamp. We stayed until 11pm so when we returned to Les Genêts Campsite the barrier had closed and we had to park in the car-park on the edge of the camp and walk back to our accommodation (which wasn’t that far away). There is also a discount voucher provided for Futuroscope; plus there are many beaches nearby.
