Daffodils and Bonnets

With it being Spring we decided to combine learning the letter D with Daffodils

First simply cut out a letter D and colour it orange

I never had any yellow paper so we painted a white sheet – I also think this adds to the fun, gives it more texture, and obviously the added skill that painting brings – you can use yellow paper if you would like though.

Then we just cut random “petal” shapes out

And stuck them with tape to our D.

We just cut some toilet roll holders up and drew some “petals” around them with white paper.

We painted the toilet roll holders orange.

And the petals yellow.

Again we just stuck the two together

To make our Bonnets we first made a papier-mache bowl by sticking newspaper with a mix of glue and water to a balloon.

We hung them out to dry on the washing line.

We then cut paper plates in half.

We painted the bowls orange.

And the half plates yellow.

We filled empty jam jars with water to weigh down the newspaper to stop it blowing away whilst the paint dried.

We taped the plates to the bowl.

Using a kit we made chicks with pipe cleaners, googly eyes and pompoms.

We glued the chicks to the top of the bowl.

And then we just stuck Easter Pictures around the outside.
