Disney Infinity Play Without Limits 3.0

Disney Infinity Play Without Limits 3.0

Disney Infinity Play Without Limits 3.0 will be available to buy in the UK from Friday 28th August 2015 – so we were invited along to a sneak preview at what the new game is like. The boys happily played the new Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars and Inside Out Play Sets. They got into the new game easily, enjoying the new features, characters and storyline and couldn’t wait to get back home to play Disney Infinity 2.0 again whilst they wait for the new one to come out. Whilst they played I found out some more information on the developments of the new Disney Infinity Play Without Limits 3.0.

About Disney Infinity 3.0

Disney Infinity is an interactive gaming platform where figures (based on beloved Disney characters) are placed onto the Base to enter a story to explore worlds. There they will battle enemies, solve puzzles and complete missions. The new Disney Infinity 3.0 has had its price brought down to £45-£50 (dependent on console), and is made even cheaper by allowing users to reuse their Base. In Toy Box mode players can mix up the characters, mix up locations and build whatever they can think of – giving them the ability to build their own adventure. You can also download for free tons of great Toy Boxes created by the community.

There is now more skill and less button bashing involved – for example with the addition of the Force Push and Force Pull ability – which changes the combat mechanic. Characters have different skills, moves and abilities that they can bring to the game. Figures from previous editions are backwards compatible, and the great thing about the game is that you do not need to buy all the characters to complete the game, and there are no limited edition figures – ensuring that children can easily get hold of all their favourite characters at no extra cost. Players will be able to unlock the ability for all Star Wars characters to play inside all of the Star Wars Play Sets, as well as in the newly enhanced Toy Box, along with all characters previously released for Disney Infinity.

Disney Infinity Play Without Limits 3.0 Play Sets

The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack includes The Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set. This includes the Disney Infinity 3.0 Base, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. The Twilight of the Republic Play Set is set in the Clone Wars and is based on the animated television show that was on Cartoon Network and features favourite characters. Available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U.

In addition, fans who pre-order the Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack, the Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars™ Special Edition, or the Disney Infinity 3.0 Video Game Software (with or without a Play Set), will receive the new Toy Box Takeover Game Piece for free, at participating retailers*. If you already have a Base then you may just wish to purchase a Software and Play Set Bundle. Available will be the Twilight of the Republic Play Set and Disney Pixar’s Inside Out Play Set (with Joy and Anger figures). The Software and Play Set Bundles contain the Disney Infinity 3.0 Software Disc, the Play Set Bundle and Toy Box Takeover Expansion Game Piece.

Or you can buy just the Software – which is available to preorder from £29.99**. You can then buy Figures separately – with favourites such as Olaf, Minnie Mouse, Sadness, Fear, Kanan, Yoda, Darth Vader, Chewbacca and many more (priced at £14.99** each). Also now available for pre-order and released on Friday 28th August 2015 is Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Special Edition (exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3). This not only allows players to get the Star Wars™ Rise Against the Empire Play Set nearly a month before it hits store shelves, but is also the only place fans will be able to play as Boba Fett.

Future Disney Infinity 3.0 Play Sets

Available to Pre Order for its 2nd October 2015 release** is the Rise Against the Empire Play Set.  This features the Classic Movie trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) and features all the big moments from the films – including blowing up the Death Star, out-manoeuvring Stormtroopers on a speeder bike on Endor, explore planets like Tatooine on a Bantha, and taking down AT-At walkers aboard a snowspeeder on Hoth. Taking Open World Exploration and Space Combat to new heights with overhauled vehicle mechanics. The Star Wars Rise Against the Empire Play Set includes the figures Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa. Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader are available to buy separately (as above).

The third Star Wars Play Set available will be Star Wars The Force Awakens – which will be available around the same time frame as the new movie – roughly the week before Christmas. No details of figures have been revealed yet. Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set will bring four player game play to the series for the first time. It will feature Hulkbuster and Ultron and other Marvel characters will also be available. Additional Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition figures and Play Sets will be announced in the coming months.

Toy Box Expansion Games

Toy Box Expansion Games unlock additional hours of gameplay inside Toy Box 3.0. Players place a Toy Box Expansion Game Piece on the Disney Infinity Base to unlock pre-built games that instantly take them into the action, mixing, matching and mashing-up characters from across The Walt Disney Company and using unlocked toys and gadgets to complete missions.

There are two Toy Box Expansion Games*** available to play in the game: Toy Box Takeover and Toy Box Speedway. In Toy Box Takeover Syndrome has got his hands on Merlin’s magic wand – now players battle across multiple worlds (such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel’s Upper Manhattan, The Old West, or The Incredibles Volcano Lair) stopping the bad guys ruining the Toy Box forever. This can be played with family and friends in 2 player, or 4 player online. Set for release this Autumn and available for pre order bringing together the worlds of their favourite characters from Star Wars™, Marvel, Disney and Disney•Pixar. With Toy Box Speedway giving players the ability to use their favourite Disney, Disney•Pixar, Marvel’s and Star Wars™ characters in kart-racing. There are nine franchise-themed tracks to choose from – Sugar Rush, Frozen, Tatooine, a classic Star Wars™ location, San Fransokyo, Agrabah, Monsters Inc., Halloween Town, Gravity Falls or Marvel’s Knowhere and three different game modes including Time Trial mode, Race mode and Combat mode. Now players can put their driving skills to the test as they attack opponents with gadgets and weapons and earn trophies across three challenge cups.

We were invited to a Disney Infinity 3.0 Preview and received free Star Wars themed merchandise. No other financial incentive has been given. All opinions are my own.
