The Lion Guard is an amazing TV Series for little ones based on the classic Lion King Movies. The series follows Kion, the youngest child of Simba, as he follows in his dad’s footsteps and protects the beautiful Pride Lands. Just Play Flair have now brought the magic truly into children’s homes with a range of great new Lion Guard Toys (which have been on sale since the 2nd July 2016). My family and I got a sneak preview and this is what we thought.
Lion Guard Pride Lands Playset RRP £34.99
This playset is really in keeping with the Lion Guard, with its iconic colours and complete with a Kion figure. There are eight ways to play complete with wooshing waterfall sounds, trap doors, and much more. There certainly is a lot of playability and scope for developing fine motor skills. Our favourite parts were the bone trap and the working vine lift, as well as all the places to hide and explore. The Lion Guard Pride Lands Playset makes a good base to expand from with other figures. Complete with an instruction manual which shows how to operate secret doors etc – and it is shown in both visual and written format.
Lion Guard Figures and Accessories
We received a Fuli’s Canyon Chase which is one of the Lion Guard Figures and Accessories sets (RRP £9.99). Fuli is a cheetah and one of Kion’s friends. She is known for her speed and the toy allows for her to go really fast: It was a lot of fun with Fuli shooting off! The Fuli figure is fully posable too. Children can collect up to four different characters and accessories including Kion and a topping wall. Alternatively there is a great value 5-pack of Lion Guard figures just £12.99.
Lion Guard Mini Figures
Who doesn’t love a blind bag?! The Lion Guard Mini Figures blind bags are available at just £2.49 each- with a rare limited edition figurine to hunt down! These figures really add to the story telling, and we received Timon a Meerkat which was small enough to fit through the back door of the play set.
Conclusions of Lion Guard Toys
I think the toys are very good value. They have the correct markings so can easily be identified as being the same characters from the Lion Guard show. They are good quality and so unlikely to break with lots of play. I think that any child would love these toys but if you have one that is a big fan of the show then they will definitely be over the moon.
