This week we headed to Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun. This one is reasonably local being in the South West but still takes a good while to get to. It was however on a Prime Number Event that I hadn’t got.

Location and Facilities
The Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun page is really quite good with its description. They were also really helpful on their Facebook Page.
We used the postcode given to find the right location and then turned in at the Royal Oak public house. The carpark was a reasonable size but quite full up. We got there a bit later than we usually do and everyone seemed to manage to park okay. Parking was free.
Once we had parked the toilets and café facilities were easy to find.
There was also a white board to put any volunteering you want to do, as well as milestones and where you are “Touristing” from. It was also Food Bank collection week.
Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun Course
The course uses the now dismantled Tetbury branch line route.
We were on the alternative Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun. This is literally an out-and-back – which you really can’t get lost on. Although I wasn’t entirely sure where the finish was but there were orange cones out showing the way and pretty obvious as I got closer.
Now they recommend trail shoes if you had them. I asked what the course was like as a lot of it is gravel path. My only trails are barefoot so if it’s too hard it really hurts my calves. As we had parked later than we would have liked I didn’t change into my other trainers. Personally I think they would have been better for me but I was okay in my barefoot.
They certainly weren’t wrong when they said that there are a lot of tree roots!
Experience Jeffing Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun
The alternate course was quite tricky to Jeff as it wasn’t really that wide and obviously you have people coming back towards you. I skipped the first walk section but otherwise did manage to Jeff the whole thing. This was at a ratio of 60:30.
Everyone around me was really friendly about my technique. One gentleman even asking his under 11 to keep moving to the side. I am sure that’s why I kept running when I caught up with them and got my sub 30! In fact it was so nice that it was a pleasure to cheer the young man on as he finished. He also obtained a sub30!
Other Experiences
Our youngest ran with his brother and smashed his overall parkrun PB. He is now down to 22m 51s. Saying this he wasn’t really liking how close people were getting to him. His brother had slowed down to let one man pass but then described him as pretty much being on his shoulder after that.
My husband also obtained a new Age Grading today.
