Here in the UK we have Mothers’ Day coming up (Sunday 10th March 2013). I know all too well the importance of Mothers, as my own died when I was only twenty years old (and my brother only 14). So I really do urge people to really make the most of their Mothers.
As you may be aware, I am a Mother of four boys – and well that involves a bit of running around. For Mothers’ Day I appreciate the simple things – like a home-made card, a lie-in, breakfast in bed, not having to do the dishes.
We took part in the “Birds Eye Teatime Handover” the idea being that my family plan, buy and cook (and clean up) for me and the family, so that I can have a night off. I do get fed up of always been the one to think up what we are going to eat, and it becomes a bit samey.
There were lots of ideas to choose from on the Birds Eye Facebook Page and their website. There was a really good range, catering for all manner of tastes.
My husband opted for Birds Eye Crispy Chicken Dippers as they also appealed to our children.
He also decided to buy something that would mean that the children could help him prepare, after all I’m their Mother not his.
This was useful as we are slowly trying to get our teen a bit more independent too.
To give them a bit of a twist he melted cheese over them.
They were quick and easy to cook.
He placed them inside a baguette and coupled them with Birds Eye Hash Brown Waffles and salad (with salad cream). It was really tasty and filling; made a nice change; and went down well with the children.
He also bought a pack of Original Chicken Chargrills and accompanied this with jacket potatoes. They were also very nice, easy to cook and went down well with the children.
