LEGO Friends: GIRLZ 4 LIFE DVD

I am a big fan of LEGO Friends and in a house full of people who love everything associated with LEGO my boys were happy to attend a premier screening of the new LEGO Friends DVD GIRLZ 4 LIFE.

LEGO Friends Girlz 4 Life Plot

Girlz 4 Life LEGO Friends is the first feature length film with LEGO Friends Mia, Emma, Andrea, Stephanie, Olivia and new mega pop star Livi. It is a story of friendship, fame, pop star fun, honesty and not jumping to conclusions.

The LEGO Friends want pop star Livi to hear their new hit song “Girlz” and so Mia takes it over to Heartlake City Studios, whilst dog walking, and gives it to Livi’s manager Megan. Unfortunately Megan needs a song for Livi and hasn’t got one in time so steals the girls’ song instead. Megan’s sister is in a rival band and desperate for fame, so is happy to sabotage the LEGO Friends’ chances of proving that the song belongs to them. When the LEGO Friends discover that Livi has their song they are determined to get it back. But on their journey to rescue their song they learn that fame isn’t all it is cracked up to be and that friendship is the most important thing to have in life.

LEGO Friends Girlz 4 Life DVD Thoughts

Girlz 4 Life really helped me to further understand the personalities of my favourite LEGO Friends Mia (pet lover), Emma (artist), Andrea (song writer), Stephanie (feisty), Olivia and new mega pop star Livi in their first feature length film. I think it was good to see that the friends aren’t perfect (with Andrea keep thinking it is all about her for example) – but that they can still all be friends. I really liked how the film incorporated aspects of modern day life into it – such as the technology used, references to social media and language used. I was impressed with the message this film sends about girls – as the LEGO Friends were determined, clever, and adventurous – whilst also being mischievous, kind and loving the glam side of life. My 3 boys (ages 12, 8 and 6) not only enjoyed watching it but were glued to it as soon as they could watch it again. I think it has great music and a good story line to keep everyone entertained.

DVD Special Features:

Karaoke-You got the look – This has all the words on the screen and showing the pace that they need singing at – so you too can sing along. Also showing footage from the film.
Dance routines performed by L2M
Extra Scenes – great extra scenes that clearly add a bit more to the story but that it is clear how it worked without them.
Official Music Video ‘Girlz’ performed by L2M
Dance lessons performed by L2M – shown really slowly how to go the dance routine for Girlz. It is really clear and in small stages.

LEGO Friends Pop Stars Playsets

I love the new additions to the LEGO Friends playsets continuing on the pop star theme started last year (see the LEGO Friends Pop Star Recording Studio Review) – and that some are featured in the film:

Pop Star TV Studio (RRP £17.99)

This converts from being a set to shoot Livi’s music video (working on her moves and camera angle) to a Studio for later that evening for a glitzy awards ceremony.

Livi’s Pop Star House (RRP £39.99)

Now Livi has made friends with the LEGO Friends Girls she has decided to move to Heartlake City. Livi has invited Andrea over to spend the day in her new Pop Star House. There’s lots of detail, as you’d expected – with a shower in the black and gold suite, real fabric skirts in the wardrobe, a balcony, a pool and of course Cookie the dog. There’s a state of the art kitchen with sushi (something that is a bit of a theme across the sets).

LEGO Friends Pop Star Dressing Room (RRP £24.99)

This gorgeous dressing room has everything Livi needs to get ready to perform. With a change of clothes, make up and even a new hair colour. Again so much attention to detail and I love that there’s a bunch of flowers in the room and of course a bone for Cookie.
