I am a full time Work at home mother to 4 boys – each one born in a different season.
The oldest was finally diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at aged 10. The Youngest is Statemented and has Sensory Processing Disorder. We got Disability Living Allowance for him without a diagnosis.
In fact I now have a secondary blog – TheSensorySeeker so that posts aren’t lost here.
I am married to an amazing man, who I met at University, and he used to work in IT for an insurance company. He used to work with mobile phones, so knows a lot about those too (and just because he finds them interesting). He loves computers and anything to do with technology.
Which is probably why boys LOVE technology too – also a good job because there’s a lot of it in our house.
My blog is about ME and my family really.
Apart from Technology the boys are thrill seekers – and we like to travel to places – such as theme and water parks. I love to craft with my kids, get them outdoors, get their brains working, sometimes I dip into cooking, I love current affairs, taking photos, doing things to help others and the environment. Sometimes it’s a little rant or to put things more clearly in my mind – which is about special needs most of the time.
I’m always trying to find ways to best help my children with special needs cope in the World and to share this information with others who may be experiencing similar.
I am happy to review things – but please see my review page – I am not able to just reviewing things of no interest/relevance to my family for free, sorry.
I think as parents none of us are perfect – we have to pick our battles, decide which corners we are going to cut and appreciate what we have. My advice to anyone would be to do what feels right for you. My approach to parenting I would call Attachment. I like to give cuddles, I co-slept, use slings/carriers, and self-weaned from the breast. I breastfed all of my children but not without difficulty. I stopped quiet quickly with my first child. I believe everyone should have informed choices on how they decide they wish to parent.
I went to a City Technology College for Secondary School, and so computers became an important part of my life. From the age of 11 (1989) I was introduced to e-mail. I have been active daily on the internet since 2003, and so “know” quiet a lot of people online. I used to run an online forum for many years and used to be known as OPooh.
On the 25th July 2011 (my son’s 8th birthday) Justin Bieber started following me on Twitter (see my twitter celebrity experience) and really I cannot explain the feeling that gives – my husband says I’m like a teenager. He had almost 12 million people following him and he picked me to be followed! It may be just that I tweeted the right thing at the right time – or maybe he saw my pink oddball keep tweeting him – who knows why he did, I just know he DID! And it really made me feel like I should do SOMETHING. I always wanted to write (and probably what I’m most remembered for at school) but I never really did write anything after I left school. Well so I thought I’d try to get back into it with a blog.
Hiya. Have just come over for a catch up on your blog. I have been meaning to tell you how much I have liked it. I see you’ve had a lovely revamp. Am gutted your acronyms have gone though. Please bring them back! I’m so sorry I never got around to saying what fun I thought they were before you disappeared them! So glad you’ve kept your memes and everything is still you. Have (rather belatedly, sorry) subscribed. X
Hello! I’ve just come over from Gammon and Chips for a stroll. I love that you are such a natural mum – that’s brilliant. I try to be, where I can, but don’t always manage 🙁 See you at BritMums Live! 🙂
