Newquay View Resort (Park 92) Sun £9.50 Holiday Review

We went on a £9.50 Sun Holiday to Newquay View Resort (92). When they sent a letter to say they had been taken over by new management I rang them up to offer them a review in return for an upgrade or longer stay. They declined but I like to offer my readers my experience anyway. We stayed for the first week of our school summer holidays, Friday 18^th-Friday 25^th July 2014. We paid £9.50 pp, entertainment was free, and we paid an extra £99 to extend our Fri-Mon break to the Friday and pay the service charge.

Newquay View Resort Accommodation

We went as a family of 5 and received a caravan with a double bed, 2 single beds and sleeping in the living area. Initially my husband and I had taken the double bed but it was SO uncomfortable we ended up sleeping in the living room and seeing if our (lighter) children were any more comfortable on it. The caravan itself was well enough stocked with the things required for a self-catering holiday. There was plenty of places to store our belongings too. There was also an onsite camp very close to our caravan for extra things you may need to purchase. This includes lessons/hiring equipment for things such a surfing lessons and the staff were incredibly helpful. I am pleased to say that in the caravan was a useful information sheet which had on it details such as the local hospital: As on our arrival our son managed to burn himself with hot water where the lid on the kettle came open as he poured it. The accommodation was adequate for basic needs, but not somewhere that we would have wanted to spend a lot of time (luckily it was sunny all week). It was clean enough (apart from a fair few cobwebs) and the only thing that was annoying was the sharp edge on the table.

Newquay View Resort Location

Location, location, location. Newquay View Resort is well placed in Porth, not far from Newquay. It is within easy (for the able) distance to many beautiful beaches.  However, Newquay View Resort is also situated right next to The Smugglers campsite, a place advertised as being perfect for Hens and Stags. Guests are not allowed into Newquay View Resort after a certain time nor inside the indoor pool. We were right next to it and loud music was playing until 2am most nights – not great when getting up early next day with small children. My other issue with the location is that you had to cross a national speed limit road to access the club (The Venue). This road also was not the easiest for the oncoming cars to see us. Not a problem for us, but may be for others, was that there was a brook running through the park which was easy to fall into for small children as there was no fence around it. There is very little telephone signal around so great if you want to get away from it all, but not so good if you need to keep in touch. There is wifi in the bar (as long as you sit right next to the bar) – but it is really temperamental.

Newquay View Resort Entertainment

Newquay View Resort is a good base as there was only a very small park and arcade area. The club was all pretty new and so was modern and clean. I can’t say that the entertainment staff were the most enthusiastic or organised I have ever experienced. They were all pleasant enough and there was things for the children to do – even if that did involve watching a grown man having his legs waxed!

I think as the week went on and they got to know the families, then things did improve. The children loved it – and even had me joining in with the choc-o-late song. The indoor swimming pools were separated but were easy to climb between the two. They were nothing fancy and there were no slides, but there were toys for the children to play with and it was good if you wanted to swim. There was also an outdoor pool – which was particularly nice for the warm weather that we had. All pools were well watched by lifeguards.

Newquay View Resort Conclusion

We would definitely visit Newquay View Resort again on a Sun £9.50 holiday. The staff were all very friendly and I would like to say a special thanks to Kate on reception. It is a brilliant base for exploring the wonders of Cornwall (we went to Land’s End & The Eden Project), and a short walk from so many fantastic beaches with THE most amazing waves. It is also near Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, and home of many wonderful surfing schools. For the price we paid for the first week of the school summer holidays we could not really complain.

Our Sun £9.50 Holiday was paid for by ourselves. These are my own honest opinions based on my 1 week experience of the campsite. I think it needs to be considered that it had only recently been taken over and that over the course of the season things may have changed.
