Paddington 2, the sequel to the popular 2014 film, is being released onto the big screen on Friday 10th November 2017. In Paddington 2 our favourite bear takes up a new hobby of baking, so what better way to celebrate the release than with some gingerbread Paddington bears taken from his very own recipe book!
Paddington’s birthday is Christmas and so, like the Queen, he has two birthdays. Gingerbread bears are great presents for smaller guests at a party according to Paddington’s Cookery Book* and equipped with a Paddington Bear and suitcase cookie cutter that exactly what we made! This delightfully illustrated book is very easy to follow, with simple and clear instructions for young children. It is broken down into what you will need, ingredients, and what to do, for both cooking and decorating the bears. You can find the recipe for the bears on pages 76-77. Note we decided to omit the salt as I don’t feel it is necessary. Our bears may not have turned out visually pleasing but we had a lot of fun making them and they tasted absolutely delicious. Besides it is really important that children learn to follow recipes, measuring etc, as well as the time spent together as a family.
