World Book Day March 7th 2013
So there was nothing for it but to make an elephant.
In the book the Elephant isn’t the normal grey colour. We could have done a multicoloured one but I wanted to keep it simple.
The materials are simply a toilet roll holder (TRH), some paint, paper, googly eyes, glue/sellotape, and a thick pipe cleaner type thing (or a straw or anything else trunk like).
We started with painting the TRH and a piece of paper.
This was a great opportunity to practise fine motor skills.
Of course he painted his hands (as per) but this time he decided to do his tongue too (I cleaned him up before this photo!)
Once dried attached the trunk.
and some eyes
Then cut out some “ear shapes” from the painted paper.
Again attaching with sellotape
He flew the elephant around, like on Dumbo. We made the ears two different sizes to represent Indian and African.
Oh wow he did a great job here, fab idea 🙂 Thanks for linking up with us at welcome to the weekend hop 🙂
I am so amazed when I find new ways of using TP roll, such a great idea to make an elephant!
P.S. Found you via linky party at Red Ted Art.
We love Elmer, such cute stories and your elephant is totally adorable!
