Better than shop bought try these delicious homemade Banana Cookies. Simple and quick to make – which is good because they won’t be around for long! Using simple ingredients that you most likely already have at home!
Unfortunately these do contain peanut or almond butter so are no good to anyone with a nut allergy. Please check my list of ingredients for any other allergies. Maybe you know of alternatives that could be used – and share them in the comments for others.
Ingredients for Homemade Banana Cookies
You will need:
- 2 bananas
- Porridge oats (over 90g)
- Honey
- Peanut butter (smooth or crunchy) – or Almond Butter
- Salt
- Cinnamon
Equipment
Things you will need:
- A bowl
- A fork
- Spoons – teaspoon, dessert spoon, optional tablespoon (it is two dessert spoons)
- Baking Tray
- Greaseproof paper
- Oven gloves
Method to Make Homemade Banana Cookies
Making the Mixture
- Mash two bananas into a bowl.
- Then start with adding around 90g of porridge oats.
- Next add a pinch of salt and around a teaspoon of cinnamon. To be honest I just tip a load of the latter in because I love it!
- Either add two tablespoons of almond or peanut butter. This can be smooth or crunchy peanut butter – I prefer the extra texture.
- Add honey to the mix. Two dessert spoons I found was plenty.
- Mix it all together and then keep on adding more porridge oats until it isn’t too sticky. Actually I found this was quite a bit more so may well have been generous with the peanut butter and honey!
Cooking the Cookies
- First you need to try to resist just eating all the delicious uncooked mixture!
- Next pop in the over on a greaseproof paper lined tray.
- Our fan oven cooked them at 200 degrees for 20 minutes. Just keep an eye on them.
- Note if you do not have a fan oven it would be a good idea to turn them around.
- I may experiment with the air fryer and see how they turn out.
- If you try cooking them in an air fryer then please let me know how you get on.
- Take out the oven using oven gloves.
- Leave to cool and then enjoy!
How to Enjoy Homemade Banana Cookies
These can be enjoyed as a snack, for breakfast or to pop in a lunchbox I guess. Maybe even experiment with them – would they work with sultanas in do you think?
How Long Homemade Banana Cookies Keep
Not quite sure how long they will keep for but I suggest keeping them in an air tight tub and not leaving for too long. Apparently homemade cookies can be frozen.
My advice would be to do your own research and make your mind up. We aren’t the kind of household that they would last more than a day or so. If anyone has experience in this matter I would appreciate you advising in the comments.
