What is Jeffing?

Jeffing is a run/walk technique that can be used for short and long distances. It definitely feels like something those covering a long distance are likely to look into. In fact I got into after Jeffing a Half Marathon.

Basically it is a run/walk technique which makes it easier to cover the distance and less likely to prevent injury. You can find out lot’s of information on Jeffing on this post. I am a Jeffer and do parkruns using this technique – you can find my experiences here.

It is good because it isn’t giving up to walk, it is changing pace so it speeds up into a run and slows down into a walk. The walk is with purpose and not giving up. It means you can tell yourself that you only have to run for a short amount of time. Personally it makes me faster – even for a 5k time.

How to Know the Timings for Jeffing

Many people use a Gymboss but I just use Intervals Pro on my watch. You can find out more about it and details about ratios in this post here.

Fundraising Ideas for Long Distance Runners and Jeffers

Just because the two seem to go hand in hand here is the post I wrote about fundraising ideas for the London Marathon. Currently I am having themed craft fundraising weeks which seem to be going well. Do you have other ideas?
