Why might you need parkrun accommodation? Maybe you’re a parkrun tourist and your nearest venues are getting a bit too far. Or perhaps you are someone who only does parkrun tourism whenever you are away. Possibly you want to combine some mini adventures with a love of parkrun. Other reasons include ticking off locations on your parkrun bucketlist or completing challenges such as the parkrun alphabeteer.

Whatever the reason sometimes it is good to hear what parkrun accommodation someone else has used. Mine involve a mix of holidays, bargain breaks and more expensive trips.
Why I Started Using parkrun Accommodation
My parkrun tourism initially started because we were on holiday. Later it was due to the local Jeffing group wanting to go to new nearby parkrun locations. In recent times we have become bored of doing the same one and have now moved on to trying a new place each week. These are linked to where other people are heading, event numbers, many of the challenges, holidays and going through must-visit parkruns.

Types of Reasons for Our parkrun Accommodation
Our need for parkrun accommodation therefore falls into – are we going for a holiday, or are we making a mini break of it, or simply are there reasons why we feel an overnight stay would benefit due to the distance from home. This includes going to see family.
Finally there are some community organised trips which involve parkrun accommodation being needed.

Prices Paid
Again how much we are spending would depend on the why, and often where, we are going. Personally I don’t believe over paying so generally I’m after a bargain. There are some exceptions like when we stayed at Ushaw Historic House for Cowfest plus the time we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Who I book parkrun Accommodation with
There are certain people I tend to book with. None of these I am affiliated with but some I have worked with before.

Bargains
Obviously I use the Sun £9.50 holidays. Sometimes I book with Eurocamp or Haven direct. You should always check whether it is cheaper to do this than with the Sun Holidays. Booking direct also ensures I get the exact dates I want.
Reluctantly I use Booking.com and the more I use them the better deals I get. With flights I usually check with Skyscanner but then end up booking with Booking.com.
For a real bargain break though we use our tent. Pitch up is good for finding campsites. Although some campsites that we have previously been with say that we can book with them directly.

Reviews of parkrun accommodation
So some of the reviews of parkrun accommodation will be very close to the parkrun. This could be by walking distance. For others public transport may have been used. Whilst the rest will have been as a base to travel to a location (or more) – but may still be something you want to consider.
