TIME OUT OF MIND

TIME OUT OF MIND Plot

Written and directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart), TIME OUT OF MIND sees Richard Gere play a homeless, mentally-ill man (George) who has been unemployed for years. He becomes increasingly desperate on the streets of New York City looking for food, alcohol and shelter whilst trying to make contact with his estranged daughter (Jena Malone). George seeks refuge at Bellevue Hospital (Manhattan’s largest center for homeless men) and befriends a fellow homeless man (Ben Vereen) who is a seasoned shelter-dweller. George takes advantage of social service assistance but lacks the required paperwork to obtain the financial assistance he needs.

TIME OUT OF MIND Richard Gere

Oren Moverman says that, “TIME OUT OF MIND is not a movie with answers. It’s a movie with a lot of questions that lead to the possibility of compassion. There are no bad guys in this story. There are no good guys in this story.”

Richard Gere (whose successful acting career spans four decades) is also acts as a producer on the film, has immersed himself in the role of George, demonstrating the bureaucratic troubles of shelters in New York City, providing additional insight into urban poverty, challenging our perception of the homeless and bringing compassion to a group of people who are often neglected by society.

The film will be released in Cinemas on March 4
