We headed to Coventry parkrun for some celebrations. It was Ian’s (A Little Adventure Time) 50th birthday and 500th parkrun. Plus it was his son’s 200th. As it was also our NENDY and still hot it was the perfect choice for us.

Coventry parkrun Course
2 laps on tarmac. For most people just follow the ones in front!
Warned it was not flat. Strava measured 41m of elevation gain).
Lots of self-seeding signs at the start. Even a sub 28 marker.

100m markers on the course.
This week they moved the start and finish slightly so it didn’t finish on grass.
Well explained and a few interesting things around the course. I liked how they said exactly what time the train would pass by and I did happen to be at that point at that time.
What is different about this parkrun is their double funnel – you don’t get told which one to go through you can go through either!
Inclusive
Personally I liked how inclusive Coventry parkrun is. With the briefings both being signed for a start. Like West Links parkrun.
Everyone was accepting of my Jeffing (although I only started this when it was less crowded).
My Experience at Coventry parkrun
Atmosphere
Nice to see Ian and his family in the carpark when we arrived. Lovely warm welcome and just the start of a very friendly parkrun. Many thanks to the man who went and retrieved my hat when it blow off when I was finishing.

Run Itself
It was another hot one. Didn’t hear the 3,2,1 go and my results were quite a bit out from when we all started moving. More so than could have been probable so not totally sure how well the double funnel system works. However, it wasn’t enough to bother the volunteers with!
