Bill’s Restaurants Festive Menu Review

I was invited along to Bill’s Restaurant at Gloucester Quays with a plus one to try 2 courses of their Festive Set menu and a drink. All opinions are honest and my own.

Bill's Children's Menu

Christmas to me means making time for one another, and so what better way to do it than over a festive bite to eat. Having previously visited Bill’s to sample their children’s breakfast menu we knew it was a great place to visit with great customer service and delicious food. With the ice-rink just outside and the candle lit tables it was a fantastic atmosphere for Christmas couples.

Festive Menu at Bill’s Restaurants

The Festive set menu has been launched across all Bill’s restaurants and is available without booking.  The Festive Set Menu is priced at £24.95 (with a £5 supplement for the Chargrilled Sirloin Steak option); this and the specials include a wide range of dishes that use classic Christmas staples with a Bill’s twist.

Bill’s Restaurants Festive Starters

The Festive Set Menu Starters include Smoked Chicken Terrine with winter spiced chutney and toasted sourdough; Feta, walnut, cranberry and apple salad; Wild Mushroom soup and Smoked Salmon with beetroot salad with horseradish cream cheese and beetroot dressing. We opted for the latter two. Both were served quickly and were delicious. In fact I have no idea why I haven’t tried a salmon and beetroot combination before – the flavours went together so well.

Bill’s Restaurants Festive Mains

Main courses feature Pigs in Blankets Mac and Cheese; Pan Fried Sea Bass; Pumpkin, Fig and Chestnut Roast; Beef, Bacon and Brie Burger with fig and cranberry sauce, baby gem lettuce, mayonnaise and fries; plus the before mentioned Chargrilled Sirloin Steak (with red wine & rosemary sauce & truffled potato gratin).

Again both came quickly and were delicious. I would say that it was a shame that the Chargrilled Sirloin Steak did not automatically come with vegetables but these could be ordered as sides (Long Stem Broccoli with Sugar Snap Peas & mixed seeds; Brussels Sprouts and baby spinach) as well as pigs in blankets.

Bill’s Restaurants Festive Deserts and Drinks

Other Festive things at Bill’s Restaurants which we did not sample were the deserts – Christmas Sticky Toffee Pudding with custard, Chocolate Orange Mousse with a crunchy chocolate crumb, Coconut ice-cream, Panettone Bread and Butter Pudding or a Cheese Board. Or the Winter tipples – the Winter Wonderland cocktail with Aperol, fresh orange juice, Prosecco and lemon sorbet, or the Gingerbread White Russian with Wyborowa vodka, Frangelico, gingerbread syrup, milk and cream served with a mini gingerbread man. There are also alcoholic hot drinks available too.

As we are having an alcohol-free year we opted for smoothies – Black Magic (a mix of blackberries, blackcurrants, cherry, blueberry, banana, apple juice & activated charcoal); and a Banana Boost (Espresso, banana, fig, maple syrup & apple blended with milk & oats). These were also delicious and really something different. We were also given water.

The Festive menu at Bill’s Restaurant not only tasted delicious but was something a bit different to the traditional meal you may have anywhere else. The service was perfect and we would definitely recommend it.

Bill’s Restaurants are across the UK including Wales and Scotland: The Festive menu is available until 31st December 2019.
