Sup and Chow Cheltenham

Last night I was invited to the launch of the Sup & Chow, the latest addition to Cheltenham’s vibrant Bath Road food and drink scene. The contemporary all day dining pub and eaterie serves a menu of locally sourced food with a global feel, alongside a fantastic selection of cask ales, craft beers and fine wine.

I never went in the former Brown Jug but was told it was no place for a lady – the Sup & Chow is a far cry from what the place used to be. The grand overhaul includes interiors designed by owner and landlady Vicky Martin and Maple Construction. The place has a quirky contemporary feel with mismatching pieces and reclaimed furniture such as a mounted station clock and a ship’s wheel. The walls are plain and give a sense of space with the choice of shades; with additional colourful items to brighten the place up such as some of the seats with cushions, glass lights and the vibrant elephant. With a combination of comfy seats, wooden chairs and benches – there’s 2 televisions and plenty of space inside and out – for all manner of people and occasions.

The Sup & Chow serves a range of food and drink options starting at 8am for breakfast and beverages until 11am. Prices start at £4 for Porridge with almond milk, Greek yoghurt, and bacon or sausage sour dough – ranging up to £7 for the Sup & Chow Breakfast (bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, fried egg & toast). From midday until 9pm there are a variety of Sandwiches, Coffee & Cakes, Grazing & Sharing Platters, Small Plates, Burgers, Salads, a Main Event and Desserts – plus delicious daily deals and Chefs specials. PLUS Thursday night is steak night – with 2 steaks and a bottle of wine coming to only £30. Of course there is a range of drinks on offer – and I loved the fact that I had more than 2 ciders to choose from!

  1. This sounds really nice, just my sort of place. I love the sound of the reclaimed furniture and the menu sounds really appetising. We actually need to head over to Cheltenham next week, so we might just check it out.
