Reasons to have a Weekday Carvery

Brewers Fayre Weekday Carvery Elmbury Lodge #ReviewThere are many reasons that someone may decide to have a weekday carvery. With more and more people being concert about their diets than meat and veg is a very sensible option. Sundays do not seem to be the carefree days they used to be and fitting in a Sunday Roast isn’t always viable. It may be that you have to work at the weekend, you have someone visiting, you utilise the time for a family day out, or to catch up on some household repairs – either way you just do not have the opportunity. Weekdays may be more relaxed, especially if you are able to have a midweek day off, or the children are on school holidays. Eating a roast at lunchtime on a weekday is perfect if you are at home with preschool children (especially if your school aged children have free school meals) and/or if you have a hectic afterschool activity or parents evening. Or possibly a good chance to recharge your energy levels over a business meeting or catch up with friends.

Brewers Fayre Weekday Carvery Lunch

Brewers Fayre Weekday Carvery Elmbury Lodge #ReviewTime is precious in this day and age as well never seem to have enough of it. So to hear that certain restaurants in the Brewers Fayre chain were trialling a Weekday Lunchtime Carvery was fantastic. They are available every weekday between 12 noon until 2:30pm. They cost £6.45 for adults and £3.99 for children (12 and under). You can choose from Roast Beef, Turkey, Gammon or Vegetable Wellington. The latter I have to admit I did not see but it may be the case that it is available on request. Then help yourself to as much as you like in terms of Yorkshire puddings crispy potatoes, mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese, stuffing, vegetables, sauces and gravy.

Brewers Fayre Elmbury Lodge, Tewkesbury

Brewers Fayre Weekday Carvery Elmbury Lodge #ReviewElmbury Lodge is a Brewers Fayre is set an ideal location along the M5 (J9 for Tewkesbury) and not far from the M50. Easy to find once off the motorway as it is situated right next to the roundabout (or Island if you are from Birmingham). There’s even a Porsche garage next door! It is a great place to take a welcome break on a long journey, and has several places to refuel your car in both directions (including petrol stations and a supermarket).

Elmbury Lodge is a family friendly pub and restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. There are indoor and outdoor play areas, toilets situated at the entrance and middle of the facilities, and colouring activities. Elmbury Lodge also holds family friendly events such as the Halloween and Christmas discos. The next event I believe will be for Easter. They also run Quiz Nights on a Thursday from 8pm: The winning team receive a £30 Brewers Fayre voucher and runs up a bottle of Villa D’Elsa.

Verdict – Weekday Carvery at Elmbury Lodge

Staff at Elmbury Lodge were very polite and pleasant, as I have found them on all my previous visits. We were seated to our table and checked that everything was okay throughout our visit (but not too much to be annoying). Plates were cleared promptly – but again not too quickly that we felt rushed. Food at the carvery was kept at the optimum temperature and food level replenished in good time (and the member of staff excused himself when he had to leave serving to go and collect more).

Brewers Fayre Weekday Carvery Elmbury Lodge #ReviewWhat I liked about the carvery was how good it tasted. I was expecting it to be more like a frozen/microwave meal given the high volume of food – but it tasted every bit as good as home-made. There was a nice variety of vegetables and they were plentiful. I liked that the height of the food was low enough for my 7 year old to serve himself (mostly) but high enough to stop younger children burning themselves and not needing to bend too much. Again the choice of sauces/condiments were of a good range.

All in all I think that it was really good value for money (we also had refillable soft drinks) and shall definitely consider arranging to have lunch with friends there in the near future. And not forgetting that they have a loyalty scheme where you can sign up for a bonus card and collect points each time you go.

I received vouchers to cover the cost of the food and drinks. All words and opinion are honest and my own.
