Looming has been the craze of the year with children everywhere making things with bands. I think it is going to carry on being big, and be on lots of Christmas Lists. But if your child found the loom itself tricky then you may be interested to know that Super Loop Bands, from Interplays My Style Range, are the coloured super loop bands which require no loom!
Priced at £9.99, we were sent a pack to review. The process was really easy to understand; presented visually in a step-by-step booklet. It was initially a bit tricky to get the first band onto the S clip but after that it was much easier than using a loom, or fingers.
The bands provided are really stretch and strong as they are made of silicone. They are really brightly coloured – in pink, purple, blue, orange and yellow. The set contains enough bands to do roughly 5 bracelets, but this depends on the size of the wrist.
As the bands are so strong they can easily be made, taken apart, and made again. Children can then use their creativity to make lots of different bands with differing patterns. I think it is important that the bands are strong because it does take a lot of patience (especially for the younger audience) and the last thing they want is it breaking. It is good for developing their hand-eye coordination and help with precision.
The S clips are much chunkier and made of metal – so also sturdier and easier to use than some other variations that I have seen.
Aimed at both boys and girls ages 8+ but I think with help even those as young as 5 can enjoy this kit. I like the idea that they are universal and my boys have been giving them and receiving them as friendship bands.
I received a free kit in return for an honest review. All words and opinions are my own.
Loom bands are still a big hit in The Mad House!
We are a loom band free zone – my daughter is 18 and the two boys arent interested, but I remember scoobies very well from when my daughter was smaller and they were the big craze – similar sort of thing I think! When Betsy was doing her work experience in a school she was gifted hundreds of loom band presents over the fortnight so I know they are a huge hit!
really cute designs. I heard that the plastic is not very good for health though so i stayed away from them.
My kids are still mad on loom bands but they are killing my poor hoover! These ones do look nice though!
Thankfully (!) Baby is too young for loom bands 🙂 x
These things seem to be everywhere still! With 2 kids under 2, Im praying theyre long gone by the time they get old enough to understand them.
Wow these look a lot thicker and sturdier than the ones ive seen my Nieces and Nephews using. Definitely worth the price. Thanks for sharing.
I see so many people wearing these loom bands, I have none myself and am sure I would drive myself mad even attempting to try it.
I feel like I am the only person who hasn’t got a loom band :o(
I can’t enter a room without finding loom bands on the floor! This set looks very good. I think the s clips look rather nice and the bands themselves seem much stronger than the ones we have.
Hmmm, I DO like the idea of silicone bands, much more robust. It is possible to create without the loom but you’re restricted in what you can produce. My daughter preferred using pencils to the loom but for the wider bracelets a loom is necessary.
Mine were happy to use loom bands manually, without the machine, and I’m happy to say that the craze seems to be passing in our house. But these do look like a useful option.
It’s funny how addictive these loom bands an be, thankfully F isn’t quite hooked but these look great. X
Mine really want loom bands but I have been holding out – these look more sturdy than the ones i have seen
You are right looming went crazy over last year.
I like the look of those bands much more than a standard design; they are really funky.
I must be the only human on this planet as yet untouched by loom bands! Perhaps the time has come to join in the fun.
Ooh these look different! My daughter did go crazy with looms for a while but now uses the bands in her dolls hair lol. She would like this one to try out! x
My daughter would love these she loo has been creating bracelets with loom bands.
We have so far managed to avoid the loom band craze in my house. This set does seem easier than the traditional loom though.
