Learn to Play Pokémon Review and Giveaway

I am sure most of us have heard of Pokémon as it celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. It has been a big thing in my house as my 19 year old has been playing it for the last 13 years, and his brothers following suit. With Pokémon GO now being a big thing I thought it about time I tried to understand more about the game other than the fact that there’s a Pikachu in it! I like the idea of Pokémon Trading Cards because it encourages children to step away from screens. Esdevium Games sent me 2 packs of Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune as they are ideal for people like me who have never played Pokémon before.

Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune

Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune contains everything needed to learn, train and win. Pokémon can be played with just one trainer kit (as each kit contains 2 mini decks) to play against each other, or combine them to create one bigger deck where Pikachu Libre and Suicune battle side by side! I found Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune to be a good introduction to Pokémon. It is good that everything required to play is provided, including a game coin with a cool Pokémon design.

Contents of the Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune are:

  • Two 30-card decks, each with a specially selected foil card (sealed separately)
  • Two guided game booklets to teach you how to play—card by card, step by step! With the first rule being NOT to shuffle the cards! The yellow booklet is for the Pikachu Libre Deck and the purple booklet is for the Suicune Deck.
  • A game coin with a cool Pokémon design
  • 2-player playmat with great game tips and rules on the reverse side.
  • Damage counters and Special Condition markers
  • An illustrated deck box to keep your new cards in
  • A code card for the Pokémon TCG Online!Learn to Play Pokémon Review and Giveaway

Thoughts on Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune

Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune gave me a good grasp of the basics: Such as how basic Pokémon go on the deck (max 5) before they can be evolved; having an active Pokémon to attack (which must have the right energy). I discovered is that it is important to know/read how many energies you need to attach to each Pokémon, and to remember to attach them as it is only one per turn. The trainer cards are pretty self-explanatory and a lot of the information is on the cards and/or the playmat to help. The winner is the one who has turned over all their Prize Cards (which are awarded for taking out your opponents Pokémon. I like how you can adjust the length of the game by only having 3 prize cards or 6, and playing with a mini-deck or full. It is also great just how portable the game is. Each of the cards are well illustrated and explained.

Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune did have enough instructions for me to grasp the basics of the game but not sure if I would have understood it fully without the help of my son. In saying that my 8 year old knows how to play perfectly fine – and it is good how the game can be played by both young and old. I would definitely recommend this product.

One lucky PINKODDY READER can win their own 2 mini kits of Pokémon Trainer Kit Pikachu Libre and Suicune – which can be combined to make one full set. Just enter the RAFFLECOPTER below and tell me (in 10 words or more) –
